Is it really that difficult? Hulu has announced on social media, on November 24th, that it has renewed All's Fair—its critically maligned series starring Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Naomi Watts—for a second season. Despite receiving negative reviews, the legal drama's first season, which at one point had a zero percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has performed exceptionally well for Hulu. The streamer boasted that the Ryan Murphy-created series notched the best debut on Hulu for an original scripted series in three years, generating 3.2 million worldwide views in its first three days.

In fact, All's Fair's failure to connect with critics has become something of a badge of honor for the series. Even Kim herself used its poor reception to promote the show on social media. "Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?" she joked on Instagram on November 6th, two days after its premiere. "All's Fair streaming now on @hulu and @disneyplus."
In the carousel post shared at the time, the SKIMS founder—who shares children North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5, with ex-husband Kanye "Ye" West—knowingly included screenshots of tweets both criticizing and praising the show. "Some of the worst acting I've ever seen in my life alongside the most predictable storylines and the most ridiculous styling," one of them said. "I'm obsessed; I need 14 seasons." Another tweet insinuated that bad reviews have indeed helped the show, saying, "Critics realizing their reviews of All's Fair ended up making people watch and love the show."
And Kim wasn't the only star to defend the series. Glenn stood behind All's Fair during a recent interview, maintaining that it is doing what it set out to do. "I swear to God, I've seen all nine episodes and it's pretty fucking good," she told The Guardian in a recent interview. "It is what it is: it's juicy and outrageous at times and touching." The Oscar nominee also defended Kim's lack of acting experience, saying that "she surrounded herself with really good people." "She's lovely," Glenn gushed. "And very smart. Very, very conscientious with her kids. When we were filming, she was working towards her law degree, and near the end, she would have flashcards."
