Becca Bloom radiated as a radiant bride on her special day. The popular TikTok personality, whose real name is Rebecca Ma, tied the knot with software engineer David Pownall in an enchanting ceremony held on August 28 at the picturesque Villa Balbiano overlooking Lake Como, Italy.
"We're both introverted souls," Becca confessed to Vogue in an interview released on September 3, elucidating the intimate gathering of merely 60 guests at their waterside wedding. "The notion of reciting our vows before hundreds of people seemed overwhelming." Especially considering their vows encapsulated their most treasured moments. As Becca eloquently put it, "I recounted our first refuge in each other's company while baking apple pies and flying kites, and how our mutual passion for learning, curiosity, and late-night musings about ideas and numbers forged our bond unbreakably."
"David's vows were more personal, yet he concluded with words that moved everyone to tears—a poignant line expressing his desire for my face to be the last he sees and my hand the only one he holds as he meets his Maker," she continued. "Not a single eye remained dry."
For her wedding, Becca donned a bespoke Oscar de la Renta gown, intricately embroidered with laser-cut peonies, a homage to her parents' Chinese heritage. She complemented her attire with chic Chanel heels, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, and the engagement ring David had presented to her during their romantic escapade to Positano in July 2023.
Fortunately for the influencer, the rain clouds that had hovered over the outdoor altar all morning dispersed just in time for her grand entrance. The rain held its course until 10 p.m., after they had indulged in an Italian millefoglie instead of a traditional cake.
It was then that Becca and David, who first crossed paths at a Philz Coffee in Palo Alto, California, in 2019, shared what she described as a "thrilling and cinematic" moment. "Amidst the darkness, with music echoing from within, he scooped me into his arms and swirled me around as silver fireworks erupted around us, illuminating the night with sparkling brilliance," Becca reminisced. "My dress caught fire at the hem, his hair narrowly escaped the flames, yet he kept spinning me, both of us drenched and laughing as if we were stars in a romantic comedy."
Reflecting on the event, she sees the stormy weather as an auspicious sign. "They say a wet knot is the toughest to untie, and that's how our vows felt—tightly bound, blessed, and everlasting," Becca noted. "Our marriage, much like that day, defies all odds every step of the way. Rain or shine, our love is resilient enough to carry us through."
