Mikayla Nogueira is making a bold statement about the way she speaks. The makeup influencer addressed accusations that she adopts a signature Bostonian accent for her content, admitting that the claims aren't entirely off base. "Do I actually have an accent? Yes," she said in a TikTok video posted on March 2. "Do I exaggerate it in my videos? Also yes."
However, the native of Freetown, Massachusetts, made it clear that her non-rhotic delivery is a tribute to her beloved home state, noting that her dad "has a wicked strong accent." "I am a Masshole through and through," she declared. "I will probably die here."

Later in the post, Mikayla, 27, shared that the way she sounds has long been a point of interest in her life—for better or worse—though it ultimately led her to discover her interest in the beauty industry she now works in. "The reason I started wearing makeup is because I was being bullied for my voice, which, still bullied about that today," she explained in the clip. "If I'm being honest, I was constantly being told I looked and sounded like a man, and because of that, no man would ever want me. That shatters your confidence. The makeup became my safe space, and I knew that's what I wanted to do with my life."
Meanwhile, Mikayla recently shared a major life change, telling fans that she and Cody Hawken are getting a divorce after two years of marriage. "I've spent the last few months processing this," she said in a February Instagram video. "A lot of crying, a lot of talking to family, friends, therapy, everything you can think of to get to a place where I can make this video. Now I heal."
But despite Mikayla's candid nature in her videos, she emphasized her wish to keep the details of her breakup under wraps, adding, "The only people that know why Cody and I made this decision are Cody and I."
