Sadaya Paige is gradually reclaiming her strength following a harrowing health crisis. Her mother, Dora J., disclosed on social media platforms that her brave daughter, who was born with Septo-optic Dysplasia—a condition characterized by underdevelopment of the nerves linking the eyes to the brain, as per MedlinePlus—faced a sudden downturn in health, necessitating an urgent hospital admission.
On June 22nd, Dora posted a heartfelt update on TikTok and Instagram, featuring a poignant image of her holding hands with Soraya, Sadaya's arm tethered to an IV drip. After recounting the 14-year-old's intricate medical history, which also encompasses a cortisol deficiency hindering her body's ability to produce natural stress hormones, Dora delved into the harrowing sequence of events.
"On Friday, Sadaya seemed perfectly fine," Dora captioned the photo. "She accompanied me to work and, post-shift, we headed home. It wasn't long before vomiting persisted throughout the remainder of the day and night, marking the first unsettling symptom we noticed."
Dora further elaborated that Sadaya, blinded in both eyes, exhibited signs of lethargy and instability the subsequent day, compelling her to seek immediate medical assistance.
"We were informed that Sadaya had slipped into adrenal shock," Dora continued. "During our ER stay, her temperature soared to nearly 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and her blood pressure plummeted drastically. From there, she was hastily whisked to the ICU to receive blood pressure medication."
However, as Sadaya's blood pressure refused to stabilize, Dora revealed that physicians resorted to inserting an oxygen tube down her throat and securing IV lines to her neck to administer more potent medications. Despite being in a "critically dire condition," Dora offered a glimmer of hope, sharing that Sadaya's condition was showing signs of improvement and she had been liberated from the oxygen tube.
"Sadaya is still grappling with excruciating pain," Dora confided. "She manages to speak intermittently, but every word is a struggle. Nevertheless, we are immensely grateful that Sadaya remains with us."
In a subsequent Instagram comment, Dora extended her heartfelt thanks to Sadaya's supporters for their unwavering encouragement amidst this traumatic journey.
"This has undeniably been one of the most terrifying chapters in our lives," she penned. "We are overwhelmingly thankful for all your prayers and love."
