On the chilling morning of December 16th, the Hoover Police Department responded to a distressing scene in the 700 block of Highland Manor Court in Alabama. A call had come in at approximately 9:03 a.m., local time, after a family member had discovered two individuals, a 35-year-old female and a 39-year-old male, unresponsive in their home. The Hoover Fire-Medics arrived and pronounced them deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The heartbreaking incident, which appears to be a murder-suicide, has left the community in shock. WBRC, one of the deceased's former employers, identified the female as Christina Chambers, a beloved sports reporter who had worked for them from 2015 until July 2021. She was a devoted mother to a 3-year-old son and had recently worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.

Christina's journey in the world of sports began at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, before she joined the regional sports network Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta. She was also a freelancer for Raycom Media in 2014 and worked at Thompson High School from 2021 to early 2025. Her impact on the community was far-reaching, and her loss is deeply felt by those who knew her best.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former employee, Christina Chambers," said Alabaster City Schools in a statement. "Christina worked for Alabaster City Schools as the director of our Broadcasting Academy, leading THS TV and sharing her extensive television experience with our students. She also used her talents on the sidelines, with live reporting for the Warrior Nation Network on many Friday nights."
Sophie Martin, Director of Corporate Communications and Community Relations at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, remembered Christina as "a cherished colleague whose warmth and loving personality touched everyone she worked with." "Christina was a source of joy and inspiration to our team and company – she will be greatly missed," the statement continued.
The Hoover Police Department's investigation is ongoing, but at this stage, it appears that these deaths are the result of a murder-suicide and there is no threat to the public related to this case. As the news spreads, prayers and thoughts are being offered up for Christina's family and all those affected by this tragic loss.
