This hardcore action-adventure spectacle, a visceral fusion of "300" and Cartoon Saloon's "Wolfwalkers" on steroids, weaves a tale of love amidst chaos. It follows the fierce warrior Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks) and mortal king Leif (Stuart Martin), whose battlefield bond blossoms into romance. But as their wedding day dawns, Thor (Pilou Asbæk) shatters their happiness, igniting Sigrid's vengeful fury.

Crafted by the formidable trio of Snyder, Jay Oliva, and Eric Carrasco, with Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Oliva at the helm as executive producers, "Twilight of the Gods" hails from The Stone Quarry and Xilam Animation. Under the deft direction of Snyder, Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl, and David Hartman, the eight-episode series showcases a star-studded voice cast that brings the Norse mythology to life.

Among the ensemble, Rahul Kohli embodies Egill, Paterson Joseph breathes fire into Loki, Jamie Clayton enchants as The Seid-Kona, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen commands as Hervor, Kristofer Hivju roars as Andvari, Thea Sofie Loch Næss soars as Thyra, John Noble imbues Odin with wisdom, and Peter Stormare growls as Ulfr.

Speaking to IndieWire, Snyder enthused about the thrill of creating an R-rated animated series on such a vast canvas, particularly delving into the intricate dynamics between Sigrid and Leif, a relationship he painstakingly crafted over a year. "Their bond shifts from frigid to fiercely emotional, with her quest for vengeance pushing their love to its breaking point," he shared. Snyder also divulged that 3D animation was initially considered, but 2D ultimately proved to be the more potent canvas, capitalizing on Xilam's strengths and offering a wider range of graphic possibilities. "The challenge lay in harmonizing the diverse artistic styles, a process that demanded patience and time," he added.
