Wednesday's Hunter Doohan Addresses Rumor His Husband Is "Jealous" of Costar Jenna Ortega

Hunter Doohan is setting the record straight on where he stands with Jenna Ortega. The "Wednesday" actor swiftly dismissed rumors swirling around his absence from the show’s season two premiere in London this past July—rumors that some fans had spun to involve his co-star as well as his husband, Fielder Jewett.

"I caught wind of one rumor claiming Jenna wouldn't let me attend, which is just absolutely false," Hunter revealed in a sneak peek of the Sept. 9 episode of the "I’ve Never Said This Before" podcast, as obtained by Us Weekly. "Then there was this other wild tale that my husband forbade me from going because he was jealous of Jenna and me. I was like, ‘Seriously, guys, can we just get real for a second here?’"

The 31-year-old actor, who portrays Tyler Galpin, the love interest of the titular character in the Netflix sensation, went on to further clarify the situation. "For the record, my husband didn’t tell me to skip the 'Wednesday' premiere out of jealousy over Jenna and me. Let’s just grow up a bit, shall we?" he emphasized.

Hunter, who tied the knot with Fielder in 2022, voiced his exasperation with the relentless online rumor mill, explaining how it made him more hesitant to engage with fans. "Sometimes, it just makes me want to shield myself more and keep my personal life private. Other times, I feel like I need to address it head-on," he confessed. "I mean, surely people can’t actually be buying into this nonsense, right?"

Thankfully, Hunter noted that the show’s viewers have largely been supportive of him. "Every interaction I’ve had with 'Wednesday' fans in person has been fantastic. And online, it's mostly positive too," he shared. "It’s not the fans of the show causing issues—honestly, it’s these bizarre TikTok videos that have been spreading all these baseless rumors about me, Jenna, Emma [Myers], and other cast members’ personal lives. None of it’s true."
