Austin Butler embraces practicality with fervor. The Oscar nominee's forward-thinking mindset resulted in some intriguing escapades on the set of his latest film, "Caught Stealing," including an unforgettable night spent slumbering in just his underwear amidst the bustling production. "There was one night when I knew I had to rise early the following day," Austin revealed exclusively to E! News at the film's New York City premiere on August 26, "and I stumbled upon what seemed like a cozy bed beckoning me to rest." The 34-year-old chuckled, adding, "Why not indulge?"

However, Austin clarified that his makeshift slumber party didn't transpire in a real apartment but rather within the confines of a sound stage in Brooklyn, where they were shooting the Darren Aronofsky-directed flick set to hit theaters on August 29. "It was all artificial, a far cry from reality," he emphasized.

Despite this artificial setting, Austin's extensive stay in the vibrant city and filming at various outdoor locations such as the East Village, Coney Island, and Brighton Beach allowed him to immerse himself fully in the essence of the Big Apple. During the interview, aired on E! News on August 27 at 11 p.m., he quipped, "Shooting all night in the East Village, you encounter some truly unique individuals."

Austin found himself spending countless hours observing these "characters" alongside his costar Zoë Kravitz, for whom he harbored immense admiration and respect. "As a collaborator, she's incredibly intelligent," he raved. Working alongside the 36-year-old was particularly exhilarating for Austin, who was already a huge admirer of her directorial debut, "Blink Twice," deemed "amazing" by him. "She's a phenomenal director," Austin added. "It's a true gift to act alongside someone who can generate fresh ideas and pen the scenes themselves."

Austin remained unusually humble, acknowledging that he "wasn't cut from the same cloth." "She's incredibly smart, smarter than I am," he continued. Off-camera, he was also fortunate enough to witness Zoë's compassionate side. "I recall one of our first hangouts when I saw how nurturing she was towards her friend," he reminisced. "She genuinely cared for everyone around her."
