Daniel Radcliffe pledges solemnly that he's embarked on a noble endeavor. More than a decade after he unveiled his journey towards sobriety, the former Harry Potter star divulged that he now channels his vitality into regular workouts instead of imbibing. "I don't exactly resemble a fitness fanatic, but I'm quite intense about it," Daniel candidly shared with WSJ. Magazine in an interview published on March 2. "I feel like I'm a stereotype of a former alcoholic or anyone with an addictive personality who's shifted their focus from booze to the gym."
Moreover, the 36-year-old admitted that his commitment to his long-term health extends beyond weights, circuit training, and cardio. "I used to power through the day on coffee and cigarettes, and then I quit smoking," he recounted. "Now, I simply thrive on coffee all day."
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins actor also provided a glimpse into his daily routine alongside his girlfriend Erin Darke and their 2-year-old son. "I have a tiny tot, so my body's conditioned to wake up at around 5:30," he shared. "My son has a night-light that you can program to change colors at specific times, so at 6:30 it flickers from blue to yellow, and I'll hear him scream, 'It's yellow! Come get me!'"
While Daniel's daily life might suggest that he's doing well since achieving international fame at a youthful age, he acknowledges that not all child stars share the same experience. "People often discuss me, Rupert [Grint], and Emma [Watson] and the Harry Potter kids in general as a testament to how it can all be fine," he explained. "And yes, it can be, but we all worked tirelessly on ourselves to make it so."
"I'm also acutely aware of how tricky it can be," Daniel added. "Growing up on a Harry Potter set in the U.K. is vastly different. The same crew was mostly there for 10 years, so we were enveloped by a group of people who genuinely cared about us." Furthermore, he noted, "I was also incredibly fortunate with my parents."
