As a relentless working actor, Leonardo DiCaprio plunges into one film after another, leaving him unable to attend the upcoming SAG's Actor Awards on March 1, despite being nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. The star is currently engrossed in filming Martin Scorsese's upcoming drama, "What Happens at Night," alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Europe, as reported by multiple outlets.

Despite his absence, Leo's talent has been recognized alongside a formidable category of fellow actors, including Timothée Chalamet in "Marty Supreme," Ethan Hawke in "Blue Moon," Michael B. Jordan in "Sinners," and Jesse Plemons in "Bugonia." Leo's latest absence follows a near-miss at the Critics Choice Awards in January, when an air traffic control issue delayed his flight from St. Barts to California. Although he eventually arrived, his tardiness was noted by the audience.

Host Nikki Glaser joked to the audience, "Leo almost didn't make it tonight because he was trapped on a boat in St. Barts. It was just like the Titanic, but worse—because Jeff Bezos was there."

While the 51-year-old actor is forced to miss the latest event honoring his work on Paul Thomas Anderson's film, he has emphasized how significant the role was for him. For Leo, working with Paul was a 30-year journey after having to turn down a starring role in "Boogie Nights" in 1997 due to scheduling conflicts with "Titanic."

"The dilemma for me at that point was, of course, I would have loved to have done both movies," Leo explained to Deadline in December 2025. "But it just couldn't happen at that moment."

In addition to the critically acclaimed movie being a major milestone in Leo's career, he has also praised the exceptional work of his fellow actors, including Benicio Del Toro, Chase Infiniti, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor—all of whom are also up for awards at the Actor Awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

Leo has emphasized how incredible it was to work with the entire cast but has shed particular light on his dynamic with Teyana on set.

"She's got the best sense of humor," Leonardo told E! News at the premiere of the film in September. "I knew when she was brought into this movie, I was like, 'This girl is gonna bring the heat.' And she did. She's an amazing hang. She's awesome."
