Winnie Harlow is gracefully striding down the path toward her wedding day. Nearly seven months after the fashion model accepted a proposal from NBA star Kyle Kuzma, she revealed in an exclusive interview that the couple is still in the process of deciding on the perfect destination for their grand celebration. "At this point, we're trying to pin down the where," Winnie shared exclusively with E! News on September 11 at The Kering Foundation’s fourth annual Caring for Women dinner in New York City. "Once we settle on that, everything else will start to fall into place."
Though the 31-year-old—who confirmed her relationship with the 30-year-old Milwaukee Bucks basketball player in May 2020—hasn't yet settled on a location, she offered a tantalizing hint about the kind of bride she aspires to be. "I'm all about that island vibe," she continued in the interview, which will air on E! News at 11 p.m. on September 15. "I really want warm weather and plenty of dancing. That's just my style."
While Winnie and Kyle may be in the early stages of wedding planning, they've been unabashedly vocal about their affection for each other, including the unforgettable nature of their Valentine’s Day engagement. Indeed, the couple reminisced about their Turks and Caicos getaway, which served as the picturesque backdrop for Kyle's proposal. Unbeknownst to Winnie, their extra-lavish trip—complete with a private jet adorned with roses, balloons, and chocolates—was about to take an even more romantic turn. "You totally threw me off the scent," Winnie recounted to Kyle during a joint interview with Vogue in February. "I had no clue what was coming. I was just like, 'This is so adorable for Valentine’s Day, oh my gosh!'"
Then, in a moment that would forever change their lives, Kyle recited a heartfelt poem that culminated in the words, "Will you be my wife?" "For a split second, I thought, 'This would be so cute if this was an engagement,'" Winnie remembered. "But I'm also not the type who wants to guess or spoil a surprise. So it was just a fleeting thought in my mind."
As for the stunning 8.5-carat oval-cut engagement ring, flanked by two elegant baguette stones? Kyle had that detail perfectly taken care of, too. "I never really asked her what kind of ring she liked or anything," he told Vogue. "I just wanted to create something that resembled her—something elegant, yet timeless and simplistic all at once."
And as it turned out, everything was absolutely perfect. "We’re over the moon," Winnie beamed.
