Yorgos Lanthimos is simply unstoppable (and he won't be stopped!) in his pursuit of collaborating with Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone. Once again, he has casted the enchanting actress as the leading lady in his upcoming project, "Bugonia." The captivating drama will also star Jesse Plemons, who, alongside Stone, made a memorable appearance in Lanthimos' upcoming film "Kinds of Kindness." This three-chapter masterpiece just made its debut on Friday at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival, leaving audiences in awe.
"Bugonia" takes us into the minds of two conspiracy-obsessed young men who decide to kidnap the powerful CEO of a major company. Convinced that she is an alien bent on destroying planet Earth, their actions lead to a thrilling and unpredictable series of events. The script, penned by the brilliant Will Tracy who has penned hits like "Succession" and "The Menu," promises to be a thought-provoking and edge-of-your-seat thriller.
Focus Features has secured the domestic rights to distribute this exciting project, while Universal Pictures will handle its global release, with the exception of Korea where "Parasite" producer CJ ENM will take charge. Fremantle is financing the film alongside CJ ENM, ensuring that "Bugonia" will receive the support it needs to shine on the big screen. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent brokered the rights deal, further solidifying the film's path to success.
