A whirlwind romance is in the air as Young Thug and Mariah the Scientist take their relationship to the next level. Following a thrilling moment during his Hometown Hero benefit concert in Atlanta, Georgia on December 16th, the "Go Crazy" rapper popped the question, as the words "Will You Marry Me?" flashed on the screen behind him.
In videos shared across social media, Thug (real name Jeffery Lamar Williams II) took to the stage, kneeling down as the crowd cheered him on. The "Burning Blue" singer became emotional as he slipped the massive diamond ring onto her finger. Thug asked, "What you say?" to which Mariah replied, "I guess I’m getting married."

In another clip, Mariah flashed her ring for the camera, showcasing the massive diamond nestled among multiple bands surrounded by smaller diamonds. The collaboration duo's engagement comes four years after they began their relationship in 2021, and after months of breakup speculation earlier this year.
Despite the brief split confirmed by Thug in October, he quickly confirmed their reconciliation as he celebrated Mariah's birthday. Alongside a picture of the 28-year-old sitting in the passenger seat, the 34-year-old captioned his Instagram post on October 27th, "Happy bday baby mama me luv u."
Just before their engagement, Mariah opened up about her hopes for her next chapter. "I want to settle down, I wanna be married," she told Angie Martinez during an interview with Power 105.1 on December 13th. "That’s my plan. I want a baby. I just want at least one. I’ll start with that and see how I can manage." As for what was at the top of her list? "I want to be married first," she said. "I just want a commitment that doesn’t involve an obligation to a baby. I just want it to be out of love and not out of responsibility."
