As the fifth episode of "All Her Fault" unfurls, Alcaras paces the room, updating the Irvines and Colin on the intricate case with a mix of gravity and a hint of unease. His gaze falls on Carrie, suggesting a thread of concern beneath her stoic exterior. While the group's focus remains on the police's inexplicable inability to pinpoint Carrie's whereabouts, Marissa's inquisitive gaze darts towards a question that hangs heavy in the air: how exactly did Kyle meet his end? Peter's eyes widen with a sudden panic, the mere mention of Carrie and her weapon enough to send shivers down his spine.

Alcaras produces a frog doll, once belonging to Milo, and asks the group to recall its last sighting. The answer emerges like a distant echo from their shared past—the Easter weekend on the ranch, a time before Anna's hire and a testament to Carrie's earlier encounters with Milo. The mystery of the doll's disappearance remains a tantalizing riddle, teasing them with its elusiveness.
With Alcaras' departure, the five of them are left to sift through the memories of that Easter weekend. Peter's admission of a juice run lingers in the air, accompanied by an unspoken tension that seems to hover over Lia. Marissa, her brow furrowed in determination, presses Peter to confront Lia about her alleged dealer visit, her voice firm and unyielding. Lia denies it vehemently, Colin stepping forward to her defense with a quiet resolve.
Exhausted by the back-and-forth, Marissa steers the conversation back to the puzzle at hand, urging them to find answers without further bickering. She turns her attention to preparing the house for the impending family interview with a news program, her movements brimming with an unmistakable sense of purpose.
Lia's dismay is palpable as she realizes she was left out of the loop regarding the upcoming interview. Peter receives a text message and excuses himself from the group's discussion, his departure leaving behind a lingering sense of unease and unfinished business.
As the voices of others lingered in the air, Marissa's mind wandered back to the Easter weekend, when Brian, Colin, and Lia had left in a hurry. They claimed to have visited an art gallery that afternoon to support Lia's friends. Just as she was lost in thought, a deliveryman stumbled in with Milo's birthday cake, spilling its contents on the floor. Marissa realized with a jolt that she had forgotten to cancel the order.
Colin and Peter once again became entangled in a heated argument over Peter's suspicious gaze at Lia. To prevent a full-blown fight, Marissa insisted on cleaning the couch and sent Peter on a mission to fetch an upholstery cleaner. She then sent everyone else away and dialed the art gallery that Brian, Colin, and Lia had claimed to have visited.
Meanwhile, Jenny reached out to Richie over the phone, begging him to watch Jacob while she visited Marissa. Richie was furious, as Saturdays were supposed to be his day off to do whatever he pleased. Jenny pointed out the unfairness of her never getting a break. Richie skillfully manipulated her into thinking she wasn't doing enough for their marriage, and in the end, they both promised to do better.
Jenny arrived at Marissa's house, brewing her a cup of tea while going through the interview questions. She promised to help clean the couch as well. Marissa filled her in on the latest developments in the case, and Jenny was shocked to hear that Carrie had known Milo even before she was hired as a nanny.
As Marissa received a call back from the art gallery, she learned that the other three had lied to her. She confronted Brian, who confessed that they had gone to visit a living facility instead. It turned out that Brian wanted to move out but was worried that Peter wouldn't handle it well without him. Peter loved taking care of his siblings and feeling needed.
However, it took Peter longer than expected to get the cleaning supplies, and when he returned home, he found Jenny there. She sincerely apologized to him about Carrie. Peter admitted that he was struggling to forgive Jenny and was trying to be there for Marissa. He asked Jenny to at least allow him to take care of Marissa that night. Jenny left without saying goodbye to Marissa.
Later, Marissa descends upon the scene to find Peter meticulously cleaning the couch. Her fury boils over as she learns he sent Jenny away without so much as a question. She unleashes a barrage of words, accusing him of always taking action without her consent. Inquiring about Peter's favorite aspect of Milo, he replies that it's when Milo has a nightmare and needs him. Later, he ventures to Brian's abode and prepares him a meal. As they chat about Brian's mishap, Peter asserts he was in the kitchen at the time of the incident. He expresses his sorrow that he can't alleviate Brian's pain. Peter yearns for Brian to avoid relying on the wheelchair and vows to devise a solution to enhance his mobility. He tells Brian he was deemed ineligible for the surgery, but promises there will be others in the future.
Before departing, Peter gathers Brian's medication and realizes it's almost depleted. He's puzzled since Brian just informed him that Lia had arranged for a refill. Peter assumes Lia has relapsed and stolen Brian's pills.
Colin returns to the house, and Marissa confronts him about his lie concerning the gallery. Colin confesses that he and Lia went on a date after dropping Brian off at the living facility.
Peter overhears their conversation and interjects, displeased that two addicts, Colin and Lia, are dating each other. He worries that Lia and Colin will relapse, and Marissa echoes his concerns. Peter mentions that Brian's pills are already missing. Colin accuses Peter of always thinking the worst about Lia and never giving her the benefit of the doubt. At Brian's home, he calls the doctor to discuss future surgeries and learns that Peter lied about his ineligibility.
Enraged, Brian grabs his wheelchair and heads to the living room. At this juncture, Marissa, Colin, and Peter have meticulously prepared for the interview. However, a drunk Brian ruins everything and demands Peter come clean about his actions.
Simultaneously, Lia storms in with a negative drug test in her hand, lashing out at Peter who doesn't believe her and inquires about Brian's meds. Marissa looks inside the pantry and finds Brian's pills. Peter tries to backpedal, but Lia and everyone else are infuriated. Marissa begs them to calm down since the journalists are almost there. She commences cleaning up the mess as the siblings engage in a heated argument.
In the end, Brian confesses that he enjoys his chair and sees it as a symbol of his freedom. Peter counters that he's lying, enjoying being taken care of. He lashes out at Lia, Colin, and Brian for messing up their lives. He explains to Brian that he chose not to undergo the surgery due to the risks involved. He calls Lia and Colin's relationship a relapse waiting to happen.
As Marissa attempts to usher everyone out of the room, Brian can't help but bring up his accident again, inquiring how Peter could have known what happened if he was indeed in the kitchen at the time. It doesn't take long for them to realize that Peter had lied about the incident, revealing that he had tripped Brian while playing with Lia.
Lia is shocked to discover that Peter had allowed her to take the blame for his actions her entire life. Peter begins to apologize, explaining how the accident had occurred. As he steps towards Marissa, she pulls away, visibly agitated by the ongoing argument. She tells Peter that her favorite thing about Milo was using him as an excuse to send him away, a habit she had cultivated on Easter weekend when she used the juice as a ploy to get him to leave.
Marissa's frustration mounts as Lia starts to blame Peter for what happened to Milo. She says with a heavy heart that Milo is probably dead, and her emotions spiral out of control. She starts to cry, and when Peter tries to comfort her, she pushes him away. She reveals that the longer they are married, the more suffocating she finds Peter to be. Just as she is at her breaking point, her phone rings. It's the police, informing her that there is a little boy matching Milo's description at the police station.
