In the opening scene of Episode 8 of "All's Fair," Detective Morrow interrogates Emerald and Liberty about the murder of Lloyd Walton, whose death was faked as a suicide but with his genitals mutilated. The detective asserts that Emerald had a motive, but the two women counter that Lloyd had numerous other victims who could have wanted him dead. As the conversation heats up, Dina bursts in, declaring the questioning illegal and threatening to have Detective Morrow detained for intimidating her clients. The detective relents after Dina reminds her of the need for a formal warrant naming a specific suspect.

As they depart, Dina suggests a spontaneous trip to Paris Fashion Week as a means of relaxation and reset for the girls. On the plane, the four women reflect on their lives, with Dina opening up about her grief over Doug's death and her desire to take on less work and travel more now that he's gone.
Dina also broaches the topic of Allura moving on emotionally and considering dating someone new, then brings up the idea of hiring new paralegals and potentially adding a named partner to the firm. She proposes Carrington's name, claiming she is misunderstood. Liberty balks at this suggestion, but Emerald suggests they consider Carrington and even bring Alberta, Carrington's partner, into the firm. Liberty threatens to quit if Carrington joins.
At the fashion show, Dina pushes Liberty to be open-minded, and while Liberty remains resistant at first, Dina brings up Carrington's father's suicide and how Carrington was the one who found him. This emotional backstory softens Liberty, and she reluctantly agrees to interview her.
Meanwhile, Carrington is at home watching a movie with her friend Sebastian, joking about their sex lives and being encouraged to start dating. Carrington admits that she recently felt attracted to Chase, her client and Allura's ex-husband. Sebastian challenges her to sleep with Chase simply to get him out of her head.
The next day, Chase shows up at the firm to talk to Allura about their relationship. Allura tells him they need distance and he needs to get treatment for his sex addiction. She asks him to seek therapy and respect her boundaries, leaving him emotionally as he admits he still loves her.
Later, Carrington approaches Chase at his gym, offering him a back massage and flirting with him. She suggests they hook up, and Chase resists at first, claiming he has an addiction rehabilitation class that evening. But Carrington continues to tempt him, suggesting a boss-secretary roleplay. He eventually gives in, and they end up having sex in Carrington's office.
Chase regretted his actions immediately, his heart heavy with guilt. Carrington, displaying the scars on her wrist from her self-harm, revealed to him her understanding of compulsive behavior, her vulnerability calming his stormy emotions.
The next day, Chase visited Allura's office to return the watch she had given him during their marriage. Allura's fury grew when she learned he had skipped his SA meetings, and it deepened when he admitted to sleeping with Carrington. In their heated argument, Chase called Allura "frigid," claiming Carrington was more open to his kinks. He stormed out, vowing never to return.
Later that day, Chase appeared at Carrington's office dressed as a firefighter, and she was dressed as a nurse. Their sexual encounter was rekindled, but during it, Chase accidentally called Carrington by Allura's name, causing her visible hurt and disturbance.
Determined to reinvent herself, Carrington visited Allura's stylist for a makeover. She arrived at the firm for her interview dressed in a style noticeably similar to Allura's. When the two women confronted each other, they argued. Allura firmly stated that she would never allow Carrington to join the firm.
As they walked into the interview room where Emerald, Liberty, and Dina were waiting, tension and insults flew between them. Allura asked Carrington why she wanted to join their firm rather than start her own. Carrington claimed she wanted closure for the harm they had caused her years ago.
Emerald asked if Carrington had prepared for the case she was expected to assist with as part of her interview. The five women met with their client, Cora, to negotiate custody against her ex-husband, Senator Bob Bishop. The senator refused to settle outside of court, but Carrington's threat to expose an old radio interview that could damage his political reputation forced a settlement. Dina praised Carrington's boldness, and Carrington took pride in her victory.
That night, over dinner with Chase, he suggested they try building an actual relationship rather than continuing their sexual arrangement. Carrington was offended, and Chase decided they should end things, leaving abruptly.
Afterwards, Carrington met with Sebastian and vented about her short-lived involvement with Chase. She revealed the real reason she wanted to join the firm: her goal was not partnership or closure but to destroy the law firm completely.
