The scene shifts to a grim spectacle as the Bull Demon mercilessly torments Sun Wukong.
In their quest for answers, Jin and Wei-Chen seek the wisdom of Guanyin, only to be met with a startling revelation: the pendant they sought was not the elusive fourth scroll. Jin, quick-witted, concocts a daring plan to deceive the Bull Demon, offering the pendant as the scroll in exchange for Wei-Chen's father's freedom. However, Guanyin's unexpected news shatters their hopes—the pendant had fallen victim to a canine's appetite. With a sense of finality, she urges the duo to return to their respective homes.
When Guanyin gently inquires if Wei-Chen is prepared to ascend back to heaven, he resolutely declares his intention to stay, determined to rescue his father. Meanwhile, Jin's world is rocked by his mother's announcement that she will temporarily reside with his aunt, a decision that echoes the underlying tensions between his parents. As Jin steps into the school grounds, his dreams of playing football for the school team finally realized, his mind is plagued by the weight of his parents' conflict.
At school, Jin's emotions boil over once more, prompting a summons from the principal to his parents. Yet, Jin's father's unwavering support for his mother, silencing the principal's insensitive remarks, hints at a possible thaw in their icy relationship.
Wei-Chen's journey takes a perilous turn as he confronts both his father and the menacing Bull Demon. Just as the demon prepares to strike a fatal blow, Ji Gong, a heroic intervention, diverts its attention, sustaining grievous injuries in the process. Ji Gong entrusts Wei-Chen with mystical beads and urgently counsels him to flee, warning of impending doom. As Wei-Chen flees, he watches in horror as flames engulf the building, trapping his father within.
