The premiere episode of "Asaf" unfolds with a man, nerves taut, parking his vehicle and hastily dialing a number on his phone. His heart skips a beat as the phone's ringtone echoes from the trunk of his car. Swinging the lid open, he stumbles upon a harrowing discovery: the lifeless body of the person he had intended to call. This grim revelation poses a haunting question: who was the perpetrator behind this tragic demise?
Flashing back to the inception of this dramatic saga, Asaf's day begins with an urgent call from an irate client, berating him for tardiness and daring him to cancel the ride. Scrambling, Asaf races against time to pick up the furious passenger, narrowly making it on the dot.
Yet, fate conspires against him as gridlock exacerbates the client's irritation, compounded by Asaf's chatty demeanor. In the midst of this tension, another vehicle collides with their car, the driver attempting a swift escape that astounds Asaf. Leaping out, he gestures angrily for the perpetrator to exit his luxury black SUV.
A figure draped in ebony steps out, inspecting the damage to Asaf's car with indifference. Initially inclined to depart, the man's demeanor shifts upon Asaf's mention of the police. He reluctantly hands over a thick wad of cash and a business card, urging Asaf to contact him if the settlement falls short of covering the repairs.
Later, Asaf swings by his son's school, where he encounters his estranged wife, Sema, picking up Atlas. Her anger is palpable as she scolds him for neglecting their son's pickup and being unreachable. Their marriage on the rocks, they're locked in a contentious divorce battle, with visitation rights a contentious sticking point.
Asaf's heartfelt apologies fall on deaf ears. Sema, unrelenting, reminds him to sign the divorce papers and to deny forgetting Atlas to Atlas's grandmother, Atlas. In a bid to cheer up his son, Asaf promises a trip to the beach to fly kites, reminiscent of happier times. But when he asks Sema if she recalls their joyous kite-flying escapade, her curt "no" and subsequent departure leave a bitter aftertaste, freezing the moment in heartbreak.
Asaf makes his way to the garage, where he encounters a system that leaves him utterly astounded. The garage authorities unyieldingly insist that he must endure a long wait until the following day to have his vehicle inspected. When he respectfully requests the return of his car, the unsympathetic manager coldly denies his plea, asserting that the car has already been logged into their system. To his frustration, Asaf is informed that he must still foot the bill for the inspection, despite it having yet to be carried out.
In a moment of desperation, Asaf pleads his case, explaining that his son is gravely ill and in dire need of a heart transplant. A donor had once been secured, but fate cruelly intervened when the hospital awarded the precious organ to another patient. Blaming Asaf for not pursuing legal action against the hospital, Sema has filed for divorce. With a heartfelt appeal, Asaf begs the manager for a flexible payment plan, and to his relief, the manager reluctantly agrees.
After departing from the garage, Asaf seeks solace at his mother's home, but instead finds himself entangled in a heated dispute over the neighbors who have demolished their garden wall. His mother, furious at his passive stance, scorns him for not defending their property. Her anger is so intense that she shows no concern for his well-being, even hinting at indifference if he were to meet with an accident. She harshly urges him to sort out his life, informing him that a lawyer has issued a subpoena with a deadline of one week to prove his financial capability to support his son.
Feeling cornered, Asaf visits his former employer, Muzaffer, hoping to reclaim his old job. However, his resolve wavers after a conversation with Meltem, Muzaffer's girlfriend, who begins to flirt with him, making him profoundly uncomfortable. Seeking refuge in Sema's company, Asaf arrives to find her mid-dinner with her new boyfriend, Harun, a lawyer eager to take on her case against the police.Sema views Harun as a man of decisive action, unlike Asaf, who she claims is ineffectual. She refuses to acknowledge Asaf's relentless efforts and cruelly instructs him to retrieve his belongings before she sells the house and moves out.
The next day, Asaf visits his brother at the bank, intending to secure a loan. However, his brother's disdainful demeanor dashes his hopes. Angered, Asaf storms out and returns to the garage to claim his car. Once again, the manager stands firm, demanding a parking fee and insisting that he wait for someone to retrieve the car from the warehouse. Left with no viable alternative, Asaf reluctantly hands over his wedding ring to the manager as collateral.
He marches towards the address jotted down on the business card, determined to confront the individual who had collided with his car. Alas, his rage was fueled further by the realization that he hadn't secured the perpetrator's name, and the unhelpful secretary at the reception desk only added insult to injury by refusing to assist him. Defeated, Asaf retreats to his car, seeking solace in its confines. Just when he thinks he can catch his breath, a call from Harun jolts him back to reality, reminding him that Sema is eagerly awaiting his return home. Harun, in a faux gesture of kindness, pretends to offer a solution by suggesting a drone instead of a kite, but his sarcasm is palpable, cutting deep into Asaf's already frayed nerves.
Parked in the lot, fate seems to conspire against Asaf as he spots the offending vehicle. He hastily dials the office, hoping to relay the license plate number, but the secretary's unwavering refusal to disclose personal information only intensifies his frustration. Driven to the brink, Asaf unleashes his fury on the car, smashing its windows and hood in a fit of rage. This act of desperation lands him in the custody of Captain Argun, who endeavors to grasp Asaf's plight while also harboring suspicions that Asaf might be somehow affiliated with Nasuh, the car's owner. Misunderstandings abound as the Captain encourages Asaf to delve deeper into Nasuh's affairs, believing knowledge to be a potent weapon.
Released from custody, Asaf hops into a cab, steering his way back to the company premises where his car is stranded. He is soon ushered into a meeting with Nasuh, who expresses bewilderment over why Asaf would vandalize his vehicle. Asaf clarifies it was a case of mistaken identity, yet Nasuh steadfastly denies any involvement of his driver in the hit-and-run. Asaf scans the room, vainly searching for the elusive culprit who had ruined his day. Nasuh, unrelenting, demands compensation for the damages.
When Asaf reveals his occupation as a driver, Nasuh seizes the opportunity to proposition Asaf with a job—delivering a package in exchange for forgiving his debt. Asaf attempts to probe further, but Nasuh's patience wears thin. With nothing more to gain, Asaf exits the office and reaches out to Captain Argun, updating him on the latest twist. They arrange a meeting, during which Captain Argun coerces Asaf into accepting a position at Payen Kuyern, strategically positioning him to bring the company down from within.
This is the unforeseen scenario in which Asaf finds himself, embarked on a mission to retrieve a peculiar parcel. As he navigates the winding roads, he promptly informs Captain Argun of his whereabouts, anxiously awaiting the captain's arrival to accompany him. Yet, fate conspires against them; the captain is delayed, prompting Asaf to place a call. Tragedy strikes as he learns that Captain Argun has been brutally murdered, his lifeless body clandestinely concealed within Asaf's vehicle. Upon witnessing the grim discovery, Asaf is left utterly stammered and disconcerted. The realization dawns upon him that he inadvertently mentioned Captain Argun's involvement to Nasuh. Before he can regather his composure, the wail of a police siren pierces the silence. Panicked, Asaf dashes back into his car, where an unexpected guest awaits—a young boy, who boldly asserts that he is the enigmatic package Asaf was sent to collect.
