Bait – Season 1 Episode 2

Published: Mar 26 2026

In the second episode of Bait, we find Shah on Sir Patrick Stewart's podcast. Stewart questions whether he fits the image of Bond, to which Shah responds that he's living real dangers. It's the last day of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, and the Latifs are preparing for a large Eid gathering the next day. Each Latif has their own idea of security to ensure no more vandalism. Q suggests a hotel, Zulfi has hired some amateurs, while Parvez, Shah's father, has hired a Polish electrician. Felicia recommends Nigel Murray, who impresses Shah with his security knowledge. However, Naila, the next-door neighbour, shows up to help but actually intends to steal the gathering by shifting it to her place.

Bait – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Shah's mother, Tahira, bickers with Naila and is upset with Shah when Parvez and even Nigel suggest moving the gathering to Naila's place. Before he leaves, Nigel lets it slip that he has toured in Afghanistan, and everyone gives him a cold stare. Shah had actually planned to hire Nigel for his appearance at the King's Museum Gala that night, which upsets Zulfi. In the end, Shah agrees to take Zulfi as his bodyguard, and a flashback reveals a young Zulfi beating up Shah's bullies.

On the way to the Gala, a new rumor surfaces that the popular Raj Thakker is now in the running for Bond. A cut to the podcast shows that Shah is planning to make a speech at the Gala to prove his haters wrong. He has an impressive talking point that, like museums representing different artefacts, different people like him can also be British.

Outside the Gala, there are protestors demanding to decolonize the museum. One of them is Sid, a fan of Shah's rapping days who asks for a photo. Shah ignores him to play it safe, and Zulfi warns him to stay humble. As they head in, they greet a woman covered head to toe but she is confused. It turns out she is just a white woman dressed in a hijab-like outfit for fashion.

To get his speech approved, Shah is directed to the museum director, Vivian Newhouse. The new exhibit is from Afghanistan, an Islamic country, and he suggests using his speech to play a mediator of sorts to calm the protestors. Vivian doesn't see the need and mentions that she is actually 1/8th Indian. She also doesn't need him as Raj is already giving a speech.

As he's busy promoting his taxi business, Muba, Zulfi tries to bond with guests who are POC or Muslims. In the podcast, Stewart calls Raj his rival, belittling Shah by stating that Raj is a bigger name, has a larger fanbase, and is a better actor. This prompts Shah to lash out, revealing that the entire situation is a pretend podcast with a pig's head.

Presented with the opportunity to work with Raj, a charismatic and diplomatic figure, Shah shares his grievances and talking points. Impressed by his presentation, Raj agrees to share the stage with him. When Zulfi arrives, Shah introduces him as his bodyguard. However, Zulfi is upset that he was introduced as security.

As speeches commence, Vivian unveils the new exhibit - the restored Bamiyan Buddha. It's distorted, and Shah doesn't understand why everyone is impressed. When it's Raj's turn to speak, he steals all of Shah's talking points, including the severed pig's head, and calls up Shah. At this moment, security informs Shah that Zulfi has been reported for racially profiling guests.

Shah is faced with a choice: either help Zulfi who is about to be kicked out or get on stage. He chooses the latter but freezes as he doesn't know what else to say. As Zulfi looks for him for help, he shares that he received a pig's head at his place too. This freaks him out, and fake Stewart mocks him for being useless.

Just then, Sid runs in with a spray can. Shah assumes it's a racist targeting him and takes the opportunity to knock Sid out. The internet breaks again, but this time it seems to be mocking Shah as a "wannabe Bond." The fake podcast with the pig is shown after the Gala, while Shah looks at the internet at 2 am. Q comes to check on him, pretending to be okay and wishing him Eid Mubarak.
