Beauty in Black – Season 1 Episode 16 1

What exactly does Horace propose to Kimmie? He suggests marriage, a notion rooted in Varney’s earlier remark about shares transferring to spouses instead of immediate family. This maneuver is Horace’s only recourse to prevent his ungrateful offspring from inheriting his wealth. Horace unveils his true feelings, expressing his loathing for his children. Despite his vengeful streak, he claims a desire to aid Kimmie. Suspicious of ulterior motives, Kimmie initially declines the offer.

Kimmie yearns to break free from the familial strife and its myriad complications. Accepting the money, she realizes, would place a glaring target on both her and Sylvie’s backs, inviting relentless pursuit from the family intent on their downfall. Given Kimmie’s checkered past—having murdered two individuals, committed carjacking, and attempted murder on Roy—this scenario bodes ill for her future.

So, how does Angel end up behind bars? Upon Kimmie’s return to the lobby, Angel seizes her keys, intending to whisk the elderly man in the backseat to safety. Her demeanor remains blasé amidst the chaos. However, Angel’s attempt to intervene backfires, culminating in his arrest in the parking lot.

Why does Kimmie consent to the marriage? When Kimmie discovers that Sylvie is slated to be transferred to Port Range County, her heart sinks with unhappiness. With Sylvie's very life teetering on the edge, Kimmie feels compelled to accept Horace's proposition. Sylvie, however, is far from pleased when she learns of her sister's deception, a lie that dredges up painful memories of past traumas, including the harrowing ordeal of being raped nightly by Frank.

Meanwhile, in the hospital corridor, Olivia finds herself on the receiving end of a class-action lawsuit filed by Lena. But Olivia, not one to back down, retaliates with a series of blows to Lena's face. Lena fights back, more out of self-defense than anything else. Yet, Olivia seizes the opportunity to doctor a video of the altercation, which she then posts online, further escalating the tension.

How does "Beauty in Black" conclude? Sylvie and Kimmie make their way to see Horace, only to find him assembling all the officials at the hospital to unveil his grand announcement. Norman and Olivia are conspicuously absent, left out in the cold, along with Roy and Charles, who are preoccupied with their own family squabbles. That is, until Olivia calls to inform them of Horace's hospitalization.

Eventually, everyone converges in the hospital lobby, where Varney, catching a moment alone, hastily shares the news of the impending marriage with the rest of the family. Seizing the opportunity, they all rush to Horace's bedside. The atmosphere is thick with anticipation and shock when Horace finally reveals that Kimmie is poised to step up, ready to take the reins and assume a position of prominence.
