Episode 1 of *Beauty in Black* Season 2 opens with Horace lying in a hospital bed, his now-wife Kimmie by his side. Horace is gravely ill and nearing the end, yet he wears a content smile, finding solace in the fact that the Bellarie family now faces a looming threat. This comes after he learns that Kimmie is set to become their new boss and potentially the CEO of his company.
Horace, with a frail but determined voice, tells Kimmie she must grasp every intricate detail of the business. He then turns to Rain, instructing her to locate Angel. Addressing Kimmie, Rain, and Sylvie, he reveals that he has arranged a house for them to reside in. Outside the hospital room, the Bellarie family huddles together, their voices a mix of anxiety and calculation as they discuss Horace’s recent wedding and the seismic shift it could bring to their world.
Later, the Bellaries formally meet Kimmie. The encounter is frosty on Kimmie’s part, while Mallory puts on a charade of friendliness, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. Following Horace’s orders, Kimmie requests Alex—Roy’s driver—to escort her, Rain, and Sylvie to their new home. Roy throws a tantrum at the request, but Alex, ever the obedient servant, agrees to chauffeur the trio regardless.
During the drive, Mallory needles Roy, mocking him about the woman he’d been involved with now being married to his father. Roy, irritated, instructs Alex to take them to their new condo instead. Meanwhile, Rain and Kimmie engage in a pointed exchange with the Bellaries, making it abundantly clear that Kimmie is now their superior and Horace’s wife. Tensions flare, and an argument erupts in the car, with Mallory lashing out at Roy, blaming him for the decline in their family’s shares.
Back at the hospital, Horace entrusts Varney with the task of protecting Kimmie, Rain, and Sylvie. Kimmie, however, is wary of Varney and confronts Horace about the decision. In a private moment, Horace sternly warns Kimmie against questioning his authority over others. He confesses that he, too, does not fully trust Varney and has consulted other lawyers as a precaution, advising her to do the same.
Kimmie then updates Horace on Angel’s progress, mentioning that Angel is investigating the owner of the car she had stolen. Meanwhile, Varney approaches Charles, instructing him to visit Roy’s house and mediate the ongoing feud between Roy and his brother. Over at Roy’s residence, Norman and Olivia engage in a candid conversation. Norman is taken aback to discover that Olivia is in dire financial straits, her own funds completely depleted.
Rain, in stark contrast, is discharged from the hospital. Kimmie voices her uncertainty about Horace to Rain, but Rain urges her to place her trust in him, emphasizing Horace's selfless actions towards her. As they embark on the drive back to the house, Alex drops a bombshell on Kimmie and Rain: Body is still alive, leaving them reeling in shock. Rain quickly instructs Alex to search for a woman named Daga.
Meanwhile, Charles, Varney, and Jules arrive at Roy's residence for a meeting with the family. Varney elaborates on how Horace has included Kimmie and her companions in his Will, a move that will significantly dilute each beneficiary's share by 10%. Olivia and Norman are incensed by this revelation and storm out in a fit of rage. Roy, in turn, expels Varney from his home and accuses Mallory of having an affair with the attorney. Mallory fires back, pointing out Roy's own indiscretion with Kimmie, who now holds the position of his stepmother.
A heated argument ensues between the couple, with Jules attempting to mediate and defuse the tension. Roy, however, is furious with Jules, particularly because the woman he was involved with ended up marrying his father. In a desperate bid to smooth things over, Jules informs Roy that he has a new romantic prospect lined up for him.
On another front, Angel finds herself in handcuffs, arrested for stealing Lakeland's car. Officer Trackson informs Jules of Angel's presence at the police station. Meanwhile, Mallory reaches out to Felicia, demanding that she divulge the information she possesses about Kimmie. Felicia, however, plays coy, much to Mallory's irritation.
Simultaneously, Sylvie, Rain, and Kimmie are left astounded upon discovering the vast array of properties owned by Horace, which are spacious enough to accommodate his entire extended family. Elsewhere, Varney meets with Charles at his residence to discuss how Horace's new power of attorney will severely curtail his ability to maintain his current lavish lifestyle.
Charles maintains an air of nonchalance about the whole situation, a demeanor that grates on Varney's nerves. Somehow, Charles manages to coax Varney into a romantic encounter. Afterwards, Varney, his heart full, confesses his love to Charles. But Charles, with a callous flick of his wrist, pushes Varney away and ridicules his sincere emotions.
Varney's heart shatters, and he is consumed by a wave of hurt and anger. He starts to make his way out, just as Roy stumbles upon the scene, his eyes widening in shock at the sight of the two together.
