Episode 5 of "Bet" kicks off with the somber scene of Blake's funeral, held within the hallowed halls of the school. Chad, who has stepped into Suki's shoes in the student council, finds himself engrossed in a symphony of pity from his peers. Kira, now in a heart-to-heart conversation with Yumeko, unveils a bombshell: Raymond Rowe was rumored to have been a mole for the mob. Michael corroborates this revelation, lambasting Yumeko for her misguided pursuit of an apparently innocent man, yet Yumeko remains steadfast in her disbelief.
With Kira at the helm of the student council, she unveils the House Wars, a thrill-ride competition where each house must embark on a stealthy mission to pilfer the flags of their adversaries, with the last house standing triumphantly claiming a lavish prize. An additional enticing carrot dangling on a stick is the promise of 50,000 chips for the individual who snatches the final house flag, a prospect that piques Mary's avid interest. Yumeko and Rya, fellow members of the Heart House, pledge their support to Mary, fully aware that the deck is stacked against them in favor of the Spade House, the council's stronghold.
Each participant is handed a card, a ticket to engage in fierce duels with others, with the card boasting the higher value emerging victorious—except for the quirky rule where a 2 trumps an Ace. The Spade House, playing their cards close to their chest, strategically distributes the high-value cards amongst themselves, with Kira clutching a Jack and Riri wielding an Ace. The chaos escalates as students eagerly embark on their duels.
Ryan suggests a tactical retreat, biding their time until the heavyweights are left standing. When they finally make their way to the Diamond House, they discover its members already vanquished by the Spade House's cunning strategy. Additionally, they catch a glimpse of Kira slipping out of the student council room, the very sanctuary where the Spade flag resides, on her way to meet her mother.
It has come to light that Kira and Riri share a half-sisterly bond, with Kira's patriarch expressing grave concerns that the prevailing turmoil might jeopardize her aspirations to succeed him on the school board. Kira confides in Riri her intentions to transform their fortunes once she assumes a position of authority. She subtly exchanges her keycard with Riri and then absconds, leaving Yumeko to be chased by an relentless Dori.
Yumeko narrowly escapes by diving into a clandestine passage reserved for household pets, dragging Mary along with her. They creep toward the student council chamber, unseen by anyone. Elsewhere, Michael cunningly manoeuvres Kira out of the room, effectively barring her from entry by deactivating her keycard.
Yumeko and Mary reach their destination unscathed. Mary engages Riri in a duel and emerges victorious with a King of Hearts, securing the Spade flag. As Kira enters the room, Yumeko dares her to a duel. Yumeko triumphs over her with a mere 2 of Hearts, revealing that her boast about holding a face card was a bluff. To everyone's astonishment, Michael reveals that he has been on Yumeko's side throughout this saga.
The Heart House emerges victorious, but their grand prize is a mere treasure trove of chocolate Raisinets. This twist frees Mary from her indentured status as a house pet.
Later, Yumeko concedes that Michael was indeed correct in doubting Raymond's culpability in her parents' demise. She unveils an aged photograph of the Kakegurui club, which she snagged during Mary's duel with Riri.
The episode concludes with Yumeko, steadfast and resolute, vowing to uncover the true killer, whom she believes is captured in that faded photograph.
