In a parallel narrative thread, Gustavo Fring, the consummate professional and "first man" of Los Pollos, struggles with the same anxiety even at work. His attention drifts away, constantly scanning the horizon for any sign of Lalo's return. Meanwhile, the Sandpiper case is finally headed to arbitration, with petitioners urging lead lawyers Howard and Cliff to resolve the matter due to undue delay. Howard steps up to the plate and skillfully navigates the situation. Cliff, unable to contain his emotions, confronts Howard about his secret meetings with Kim Wexler.

Howard swiftly reacts when Cliff reveals the truth about his liaison with Kim. He cancels all his appointments for the week and sets out to devise a plan to bring down Saul. Utilizing her connections at her former firm, Kim obtains the name of the president of the tribunal who will decide the Sandpiper case. Saul is lured in under the guise of a client named Mr. Ward and is defeated in a boxing match with Howard, receiving a final warning to stay away or face consequences.

In secret, Howard enlists a private investigator to tail Saul and record his meetings with various individuals. The episode culminates in a brief scene revealing the unfinished meth lab from Better Call Saul's predecessor, nestled within Gus's extended abode. The final sequence unravels the mystery of the opening: the sculpture belongs to Werner's widow and was bestowed upon her by him. Lalo is determined to gather evidence to incriminate Gus and proceeds to steal it from Margarethe's house after making her acquaintance.
