In the fifth episode of Blind Sherlock, we find ourselves right back in the thick of the action, as Selina, the teenage runaway from the previous episode, is now in fact, kidnapped. In the meantime, Roman is left pining for Caro and struggling to come to terms with his loss. He makes a desperate visit to her clinic, only to find her avoiding him. She arrives to show her replacement the ropes and Roman, filled with emotion, makes a scene. He begs for a second chance, claiming that he has left the police so that he can be there for her. However, she calls him out for lying, as Nico had told her about his suspension, and points out that he is still only thinking about himself, rather than their child. She tells him to leave her alone and storms out.

Nico then comes over to check on Roman and sees that the place is a mess. Roman is still listening to the tapes through Helen's account and is taking the loss personally. He is determined to make up for his mistake and Nico warns him. As a former workaholic himself, Nico knows the pain of missing the birth of his child and almost losing his family. He advises Roman to figure out his priorities. He also reveals that Selina's case is not pointless, as she has been kidnapped.
Roman decides to rebuild his life and takes back his old job at the call center. His brother, Bo, is worried and tries to assure him that he did nothing wrong with Caro. He goes as far as to bring his family and move in with Roman. One night, while they are watching the news, Selina's father, Mr. Adriaansens, makes a scene. Roman suddenly realizes something and Bo tries to check on him. Roman lashes out at him for treating him like a victim and runs off.
He rushes to Helen's and finds her hooking up with Anthony. He blackmails them into playing Frank's confrontational call with Lennon and then calls Nico. It turns out that Adriaansens is Lennon, which means that Selina has been kidnapped by McCartney. Nico offers to bring Roman back on the case, but he refuses now that he knows his priorities.
On the case, the cops arrest Adriaansens who is desperate. He plans to pay McCartney 35 million to get back his daughter the day after. Eager to get going, Adriaansens agrees to be their mole and even tells the cops that McCartney's real name is Vyacheslav.
Elsewhere, Limon and Mrs. Graauw approach Roman to help with Amaya, the young girl who is visibly scared. Roman, with his gentle demeanor, comforts her and personally escorts her to his institute for the blind, ensuring she's well settled. It's D-Day, and the cops have taken their positions at the Market Hall where Adriaansens is supposed to meet McCartney. Ten minutes past the meeting time, distractions are created, and the cops lose sight of Adriaansens. Suddenly, the Belgian cops contact them. Selina has been released and has the words "dirty rat" written on her arm. The cops rush to Adriaansens, but it's too late. He's dead from a poisoned drink.
Roman is at a parenting class alone when Nico updates him on their failure. To make matters worse, Interpol has taken over the case and plans to pin everything on Yaqub. Roman thinks about how Yaqub is a good father to his son, Adam, and how he deserves to be there for him. Desperate to make things right, Roman approaches Yaqub and speaks his heart out. For Adam's sake, he doesn't want Yaqub to take the fall while the bad guys go free. He offers to reduce his prison sentence, and Yaqub agrees to help him. At the end of the episode, Roman takes Yaqub to the precinct.
