In the fifth episode of "Bloody Flower," the Chairman of Cheum Medical Center, Chae Jeong-su, visits Han-jun with a proposal. He desires to create a cure using Woo-gyeom's blood and enlists Han-jun's help in convincing Woo-gyeom to donate. In return, Jeong-su promises to allow Min-seo to jump the line and receive treatment first. However, if Han-jun declines, a lottery system will be implemented, and Cheum will decide the patients.

Bloody Flower – K-drama Episode 5 1

The death penalty is off the table, and Assemblyman Baek scolds Prosecutor Cha for fumbling the trial. But Cha puts him in his place, warning him not to doubt her. At the next hearing, she brings up Lee Chang-se and Song Tae-jin's relapse, stating that the cure is not guaranteed and she still seeks the death penalty for the 17 murders.

Han-jun counters that the two patients' relapse was due to other medications, not the cure. His closing statement is emotional as he speaks about giving hope to children and families. Cha looks upset as she realizes she has lost.

The judge finally gives his verdict: Woo-gyeom's future actions will save more lives than he has taken. He will serve his sentence in Cheum's isolation facility, where he will treat terminally ill patients. If he ever refuses, the death penalty will be reinstated.

Worried about losing the election if Woo-gyeom doesn't receive the death penalty, Assemblyman Baek approaches the National Assembly to overturn the verdict. But they refuse, instead gossiping about how Min-seo should be the first patient. Even Woo-gyeom wants to treat her first, as he owes Han-jun for defending him. Han-jun is touched by this sentiment.

Next, Baek tries to reason with Jeong-su. We learn that the Chaes are his biggest sponsors, and Jeong-su puts him in his place. He only cares about power and making money. He tells Baek to play nicely as Woo-gyeom is their new moneymaker. It seems like Jeong-su plans to monopolize the cure and make money from it.

However, Han-jun hesitates, considering the ethics of it all. He says as much to Jae-hee, who points out that only their daughter matters. To make matters worse, Min-seo has lost her eyesight.

With the trial concluded, Min-gyeong prepares to depart, but Reporter Jo believes their work is far from over. He suspects Prosecutor Cha is gathering evidence to overturn the ruling, and there are still numerous loose ends, such as the murderer of Song Min-su. Jo decides to write a special feature on Woo-gyeom to dispel misunderstandings.

As punishment, Prosecutor Cha is reassigned to Namhae. However, she continues to investigate Professor Han's case, which was dismissed by Director Oh and approved by Assemblyman Baek. She confronts Director Oh, who orders her to drop the case. Jeong-su learns of Cha's digging and pushes his men to find Han, dead or alive, as he is needed for the cure. Shin Ho-chang, the runner from the previous episode, finds Han, but he escapes in time.

Meanwhile, the Cheum Medical Board wants to replace Baek with a new spokesperson. They point out Jeong-su's shortcomings when he protects Baek, and he struggles to regain his authority. However, he is not the head, as we see someone else at the head of the table. Could it be Prosecutor Cha's father?

Elsewhere, a desperate Cha approaches Han-jun and tells him about Han and Oh's case. When Han-jun shows no interest, Cha suggests Woo-gyeom may be involved as Han's victim. Right then, the lottery system is announced. Min-seo's condition worsens as she experiences seizures and dementia, drastically shortening her life expectancy and causing her parents to panic. Woo-gyeom is reviewing the first list of applicants and is surprised that she isn't mentioned. Suddenly, Professor Han visits him at the facility. Woo-gyeom asks if everything is ready and smiles when Han shows him something.

As for Cha, she meets with Jeong-su. We learn that his father, Chae Jeong-hun, a renowned researcher, had hired Professor Han. Jeong-su reveals that he knows she is looking into Han and asks if Han conducted illegal experiments at Cheum.
