Next, we see Chae Jeong-su and Prosecutor Cha's meeting. Jeong-su claims that they got the consent from the patients' guardians for Han's experimentation. Jeong-su's father's dream was to cure the incurable, but he died with one. Jeong-su gives the usual spiel that he is committed to saving people, but Cha doesn't buy it. In fact, Woo-gyeom's mother is dead, so how could she have given her consent?

The first treatment following the verdict takes place. Woo-gyeom is kind to the kid, and Jeong-su watches via CCTV. Shin Ho-chang hands in the notebook, and Jeong-su orders his research team to create an independent cure within a week. He also orders Director Ahn to ensure that Professor Han is safe.

Meanwhile, Reporter Jo and Min-gyeong are tracing Woo-gyeom's family for their article. Kim Hye-ju, Woo-gyeom's mother, died of a heart attack but her body was found in a stream. The two realize that she was murdered.

At the same time, Prosecutor Cha drags Detective Gong to snoop around Hye-ju's house when they spot someone. We see that it is Professor Han who escapes only to run into someone else. As for Cha and Gong, they run into Jo and Min-gyeong who had the same idea of investigating Hye-ju's death. They pool their intel and we see that Hye-ju had reported Woo-gyeom missing when he went into a coma. She searched tirelessly with no help from the police. When Cha pulls up the autopsy report, she is shocked to see that it is Detective Gong who wrapped up her case.

It is finally Thursday, and Han never shows up. Instead, it is Han-jun who is desperate as Min-seo's situation worsens. He gets on his knees and begs for Woo-gyeom's help. Jeong-su watches the interaction from the CCTV and laughs.

As Han-jun is leaving, Jo updates him that the car (driven by Shin) outside Han's place is owned by Cheum Medical Center. On top of that, Prosecutor Cha meets with him and reveals that she is still working on overturning Woo-gyeom's verdict. She refuses to believe he is altruistic, as he tried to strike a demo deal with her. She also finds it odd that he knew when he would be arrested. Han-jun agrees to work with her in exchange for all her files on Cheum and Chae Jeong-su. He also notices that she is drunk and advises her to stop drinking.

The following day, she meets with Detective Gong, seemingly unperturbed, and engages him in a casual conversation about past cases. He reveals that her predecessor as the prosecutor was Director Oh, which is not surprising. As soon as she leaves, he calls Director Ahn, confessing that he is Cheum's mole. He was also the one who rejected Hye-ju's report of Woo-gyeom's disappearance. Cha's day is filled with activity as her assistants, Lee and Bang, arrive, determined to assist her. They reach the same conclusion that Assemblyman Baek, Director Oh, and Professor Han are somehow involved. This information is relayed to Han-jun, who puts Min-gyeong and Reporter Jo to work.

News debates on the treatment - a slow process of drawing Woo-gyeom's blood every three days for one patient - are ongoing. However, Cheum's stocks have soared, making it the largest medical group in the country. Jeong-su recalls his stoic father and later killing him when he fell ill.

Soon, a patient with a rare disease forces Cheum to outsource the treatment to Hana Hospital. Security is heightened as Woo-gyeom is transferred. At the same time, Detective Gong alerts Prosecutor Cha that Professor Han has been drained of all his blood and has been dead for two days. Gong believes that Han was the man outside Hye-ju's house. Suddenly, Cha receives a shocking call about Woo-gyeom.

The scene cuts to Han-jun driving off with Woo-gyeom.
