During the wake, Dove's intention is to engage Seamus in conversation, harboring suspicions that he might have some connection to Darragh's death. However, before she can approach him, a woman named Mary Donovan from the funeral home interrupts her thoughts with a conversation. Dove inquiries whether an autopsy was conducted on Darragh, but Mary assures her that it wasn't deemed necessary as his death didn't exhibit any suspicious circumstances. Mary explains that given the angle and depth of his wound, coupled with his intoxicated state, it's evident that he stumbled and hit his head.

Eventually, Dove manages to secure a private moment with Seamus in the kitchen, but he's well aware of her ulterior motives. He chastises her for intruding on the grief of others solely for the sake of their podcast, but Dove counters that she's a journalist and it's her duty. In a startling revelation, Seamus confesses that he's privy to Kretk's demise and the entire sordid affair that transpired in London. This revelation undoubtedly rattles Dove, realizing that she's not the only one delving into the shadows of this mysterious death.

Mary and Dove were enjoying a drink outdoors, their laughter echoing through the evening air. Suddenly, Mary's demeanor changed as she began flirting shamelessly with Dove. It was unclear if Dove reciprocated her interest, as she appeared flattered but quickly pointed out that Mary had had a bit too much to drink.

Just then, Damien's voice interrupted the moment, his tone urgent as he spoke to Dove on the phone. He informed her that the police had obtained a search warrant for her apartment and discovered Kretk's laptop, a discovery that spelled trouble. A formal investigation was now underway against her, and Damien pleaded with her to return to London.

But Dove, having stumbled upon a captivating story, was reluctant to abandon her investigation. She had uncovered crucial information about the Badger, and now her curiosity was piqued. Damien, recognizing the importance of her findings, reluctantly agreed to let her stay and continue her investigation, while he would do his best to assist her from London.

Meanwhile, Gilbert conducted interviews at the wake, eager to uncover the enigmatic nature of Darragh. He engaged in conversation with Seamus, who aired his grievances about Dove. However, the most intriguing revelation came from Darragh's sister, Dot. She revealed that Darragh had once been incarcerated, where he fatefully crossed paths with Malachy. Upon his release, Darragh took Malachy under his wing, and his heart was reportedly broken when Malachy vanished without a trace. Another female acquaintance of Gilbert's hinted at Darragh harboring romantic feelings for Malachy, albeit unreciprocated. Gilbert's investigation took a shocking turn when he discovered that Malachy was, in fact, Seamus' brother!

After her conversation with Damien, Dove resolved to infiltrate Seamus' home while he attended the wake. She unearthed hidden cash and a firearm, along with a trove of vintage photographs and a ring inscribed with the name Fiona. Among the photos, she found one depicting two individuals, with the names Fiona and Seamus inscribed on the reverse. It seemed evident that Fiona and Seamus had been romantically entwined.

At the wake, Emmy struck up a conversation with Fintan, who recounted his encounter during the previous Samhain Festival. As a fourteen-year-old, he had heard the commotion of a car crash and screams in the night. Yet, when he ventured out to investigate, there were no signs of a collision. Instead, he beheld something emerging from the lake, a haunting echo of an ancient Irish folktale. Emmy, though skeptical, was captivated by his narrative and eager to learn more. Gilbert, however, seemed indifferent to Emmy's fascinating discovery for the podcast.

Disheartened by Gilbert's lack of interest, Emmy decided to depart with Fintan and accompany him to his abode. There, Fintan confided that he and Teddy had once been close friends, with plans to meet on the night of the Samhain Festival. However, he had abandoned Teddy for a girl, a decision that filled him with guilt. The two shared a tender moment, their lips meeting, and Emmy decided to spend the night with Fintan.
