The episode kicks off with an intense scene of Humberto Zorrillo (Manuel Uriza) forcefully entering the abode of Sheriff Deputy Jack Garrity (Chris Cauer). As he prowls around Garrity's house, Zorrillo takes a call informing him of an upgrade in his task—his quota has been bumped up from twenty to thirty vehicles. Meanwhile, Garrity remains absent, giving Zorrillo the liberty to stub out his cigarette on a framed picture of Garrity on the coffee table before making his exit. Unbeknownst to Zorrillo, Garrity has been a silent observer of the entire sequence from his neighbor's residence. Gathering his courage, Garrity finally ventures back to his own home, only to find Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) awaiting him with a grave revelation.
Bosch lays bare how he is privy to El Fuerte's hold over Garrity and how Garrity played a pivotal role in Jimmy Robertson's (Paul Calderon) untimely demise. Garrity attempts to brush it off with nonchalance until the bombshell drops—Diego Perra (Esteban Carmona), under protective custody, is spilling the beans.
Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers), sensing a breakthrough, instructs her team to reach out to RHD and arrange an interview with their newly identified suspect. Reina Vasquez (Denise G Sanchez) offers Albert Torres (Tommy Martinez) the advice to collaborate with his attorney for a potential reduction in his sentence. Torres inquiries about the future of his relationship with Reina and his mother, to which she responds with an ambiguous, "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
After turning Garrity over to Detective Gerard Willis (Leonard Roberts), Bosch receives a call from Ken Gurbizss (Gonzalo Menendez), signaling the green light for their next move. Under interrogation by Willis, Garrity spills the beans on Zorrillo, bartering witness protection for physical evidence and the whereabouts of Zorillo.
Gurbizs and Bosch convene with Gurbizs's contact to delve into the mysterious disappearance of Finbar McShane, alias Michael Reilly Burke. The scene shifts to Tecate, Mexico, where two figures are portrayed engaging in a clandestine meeting. One hands over a souped-up vehicle and essential provisions to the other, who promptly remunerates him.
Later, Gurbizs, Bosch, and Maurice 'Mo' Bassi (portrayed by Stephen A. Chang) converge to dissect the last known whereabouts of Finbar. Their deductions lead them to believe that he is heading northward, potentially with the intent of seizing an illicit stash of cash in Tecate. Their discourse is abruptly halted by the interruption of Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz), who catches sight of the Mexican map and inquisitively inquires about its significance. Bosch informs her of Finbar's plight, prompting Maddie to insistently pledge that he will venture into Mexico and return Finbar alive.
Elsewhere, Honey and Chief Hughes (Sophina Brown) convene to strategize on the prosecution of Zorrillo, seemingly converging on the harshest penalty – death. Meanwhile, Garrity's failure to appear at the designated plant prompts Zorrillo to reach out to his contact and reschedule the operation.
Maddie briefly engages Vasquez about reintegrating into her professional duties. In a parallel scenario, Patrick Currey (Jeremy Glazer) is seen doling out drugs to his partner. Subsequently, he is portrayed rushing out of his residence while engaged in a phone conversation. A passerby, a lady walking her dog, overhears his hurried speech and promptly dials 911. Maddie and Vasquez are dispatched to the scene and manage to save the individual's life by clearing his obstructed airway.
Concurrently, Bosch and Gurbizs meet Mo in Mexico, while Vasquez seeks out Mari Torres (Zilah Mendoza) to discuss Albert. However, this conversation takes a sour turn, culminating in Mari storming off in a huff, declaring her desire for severing all ties with Vasquez.
Currey's fixer assures him that he should be out of the woods, yet, just in case he needs some leverage, he hands over a copy of Honey's psychiatrist files. At a lively bar, Vasquez and Maddie find themselves entangled in a brawl with a group of rowdy patrons, ultimately leading to their ejection from the premises.
Meanwhile, Zorrillo and his cronies are in the midst of loading a stash of cars with contraband when, unexpectedly, the DEA swoops in and apprehends them. Zorrillo surrenders without a fight. Bosch receives the news as he and Gurbizs are entering a notorious Mexican bar renowned for its underground poker games. While there, they inquire about Finbar, but the bartender claims ignorance. However, a young boy who was present at the beginning of the episode eavesdrops on their conversation and later whispers to Bosch that he knows Finbar's whereabouts. Moments later, Bosch, Mo, and Gurbizs find themselves perched on a mountain overlooking the very cabin that featured prominently at the episode's outset.
Willis informs Honey that Hughes and the DEA will be taking charge of the Zorillo case. Later that night, as they stake out Finbar's cabin, Gurbizs poses a question to Bosch: are they there to eliminate or apprehend Finbar? Bosch clarifies that they are bringing him back. Shortly after Mo spots Finbar returning home, they decide to raid the cabin. In the blink of an eye, they have Finbar in custody.
Almost immediately after securing Finbar, Gurbizs and Bosch get a message from Mo that Tecate authorities have arrived at the cabin with the young boy who revealed Finbar's location. Additionally, their pilot informs them that the Federales have blocked the airstrip. This revelation prompts Gurbizs to pull over and forcibly extract Finbar from the car. After a heated debate with Bosch, Gurbizs takes a drastic step and shoots Finbar in the head.
Back in the US, Bosch calls Siobhan Murphy (Orla Brady) to inform her of Finbar's capture. Soon after, Maddie arrives, and Bosch tells her about Finbar, vowing that he didn't take his life. The episode concludes on this tense note.
