Heavenly Ever After – K-drama Episode 2 1

The following day, they venture out to explore Haven, a bustling locale that mirrors the vibrant streets of Earth. Despite its teeming vitality, Hae-suk feels an unease creeping in as the other residents, their gazes fixed on her appearance, scrutinize her. Their journey eventually brings them to Haven's Service Centre, where Hae-suk, mistaking the president of Heaven for the Almighty, discovers that Nak-jun is employed there. The Centre functions as a hub for resolving residents' grievances and navigating the complexities of their posthumous existence.

Later, Hae-suk attends an orientation session where she learns that Haven is not a celestial reward but merely a sanctuary for souls who have escaped the fiery pits of hell. She is warned that any infraction of the rules, such as uttering curses or resorting to violence, could lead to their eventual exile to that dreaded realm.

During this session, Hae-suk crosses paths with a woman who is tending to her mother-in-law, now incarnated in the form of a child. The woman recounts a poignant promise made by her terminally ill mother-in-law: to return as her child in the afterlife, enabling the younger woman to continue her caregiving duties.

After immersing themselves in the surreal ambiance of Haven, Hae-suk and Nak-jun return to their home, the day's events leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Young-ae grapples with the profound loss of Hae-suk. Flashbacks paint a vivid picture of Hae-suk's kindness and protective nature, particularly during Young-ae's vulnerable childhood marked by neglect and pain inflicted by her own father. Hae-suk had compassionately taken her under her wing, nurturing her as though she were her very own flesh and blood.

The subsequent day, Hae-suk prepares for another session, yet she finds herself intimidated by the youthful vibrancy of the crowd and inadvertently finds herself trailing a group of elderly residents. To her astonishment, this group reveals itself to be dogs that have miraculously adopted the forms of their human owners, an ingenious and hilarious twist that brings a smile to even the darkest corners of her heart.

Later, Hae-suk encounters the enigmatic woman dressed in black once more, who is revealed to be none other than her deceased cat, Sonya. Sonya inquisitively examines Hae-suk's appearance before mysteriously disappearing upon Nak-jun's arrival. The encounter leaves Hae-suk deeply perturbed and feeling utterly helpless. In a state of despair, she and Nak-jun venture to the service center, hoping to request a change in her appearance. Their hopes are dashed when they are informed that such a transformation is impossible, leaving Hae-suk profoundly disappointed and yearning for a sense of belonging in her newfound reality.

As they trudge back home, the couple reflects on their shared past. Nak-jun confesses that he had been acutely aware of Hae-suk's struggles during her lifetime but felt powerless to alleviate her pain. This poignant revelation fosters a rare moment of intimacy and mutual understanding between them, prompting them to walk hand in hand, their hearts intertwined with a bond that transcends time and sorrow.

Meanwhile, Young-ae seeks out a shaman, who reveals to her that Hae-suk's soul lingers on Earth, driven by her unwavering care and concern for Young-ae. Resolved to reunite with her friend, Young-ae makes up her mind to embark on a journey to find Hae-suk. At that very moment, a youthful woman from Haven dashes over to Nak-jun and embraces him warmly. The episode culminates in a scene of sheer mayhem as an enraged Hae-suk bursts in, grabbing handfuls of their hair, leaving viewers on a hilariously suspenseful note.
