Butterfly (2025) – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Slipping away discreetly to the restroom, Rebecca dials Juno's number. As always, Juno regales her with tales of David posing a danger to both her and the organization, reassuring her that he will welcome her back with open arms.

Meanwhile, David's suspicions are aroused, prompting him to tail Rebecca to the restroom. Finding her absent upon his return, he hastily prepares to leave. However, to his astonishment, Rebecca is already awaiting him by their car. She shares that she had felt similarly when her father vanished without a trace.

As they journey towards Busan, David inquiries if Rebecca had contacted Juno. She deceives him with a denial, remaining vigilant and on edge around her father.

Unbeknownst to them, Juno wields his influence to arrange for local police to set up checkpoints. The situation takes a dramatic turn when the officers recognize the duo. David urges Rebecca not to resort to violence against them, but a firefight ensues nonetheless, compelling David to hijack a car and double back.

Back in Seoul, Juno and Oliver strategize their next move, meticulously monitoring the unfolding events through CCTV footage. Oliver uncovers David's new life, including his wife, and expresses concern that David might be onto them, mentioning a figure named Jae-hun. Juno dismisses his worries, advising him not to let his anxieties get the best of him.

In the heart of Korea, we are introduced to Gun, a seasoned assassin whose work is as precise as it is perilous. Scarcely having wrapped up one assignment, his phone buzzes with a call from Juno. It becomes apparent that Juno has tasked him with hunting down David. David, meanwhile, finds himself in Daegu, accompanying Rebecca to a friend's abode. They indulge in some makgeoli, a local brew, and share nostalgic conversations, lost in reminiscence.

As their discourse unfolds, Rebecca abruptly realizes that David has administered drugs to her. Her eyelids grow heavy, and she succumbs to sleep. David, seizing the moment, sifts through her phone, uncovering a call she made to Juno, tinged with deceit.

Elsewhere, Senator Dawson pays Juno a visit, escorting her to lunch with a hidden agenda. He unveils his investigation into Karpov's demise, revealing the late Russian's clandestine dealings—peddling American classified secrets. Dawson subtly weaves Oliver into the conversation, an allusion not lost on Juno.

Upon waking, Rebecca confronts David, her eyes flashing with suspicion. She firmly denies furnishing Juno with any information pertaining to him, her frustration culminating in a physical altercation. David, encircling her in a reassuring embrace from behind, finally unburdens his heart, spilling the beans on their past.

Their mission, David recounts, was to terminate a Filipino mafia kingpin. Tragedy struck when they vastly underestimated the mafia's prowess. Maldonado, the mafia boss, possessed a comprehensive dossier on David's team, extending to their families. Amidst the mission's chaos, David's team came under relentless assault. To shield Rebecca, David orchestrated his own faux demise. As he confesses his longing for her, his voice breaks, pleading for her understanding.

Just as their intimate conversation gains momentum, David's phone interrupts. Eun-ju, his loved one, calls from the train station, her voice tinged with panic as she suspects being tailed. He instructs her to remain put until his arrival, unaware that Juno has laid a trap, her men poised for action. David implores Rebecca to await his return, his promise filled with sincerity.

Racing to the train station, David dispatches two of Juno's men with practiced precision. Seizing their radios, he establishes communication with Juno, his voice a blend of warning and defiance. He threatens to obliterate everything she holds dear if she dares to encroach upon his family. Juno, convinced of her own invincibility, dismisses his threats as mere bluffing.

Rebecca arrives on the scene to lend David a helping hand, an act that Juno interprets as an unforgivable betrayal. Gun, too, enters the fray, intent on bringing David down. Once again, Rebecca intercedes, heroically shielding her father, while Eun-ju manages to scramble onto the waiting train. With mere moments to spare, Rebecca strains to haul a wounded David towards safety aboard the train. As they finally find their seats, Rebecca is astounded to uncover the revelation that David has another daughter.
