Butterfly (2025) – Season 1 Episode 3 1

Elsewhere, Rebecca attempts to provoke Eun-ju with a barrage of harsh inquiries, her tone tinged with challenge. Eun-ju, ever composed, replies that they are not adversaries. Struggling to reconcile with her father's transformed existence, Rebecca confronts David, accusing him of supplanting her and her mother in his new life. David urges calm, promising they'll address her concerns at the safe house, where provisions await.

Meanwhile, Juno phones Gun, casting blame for David's escape squarely on his shoulders. She issues a stark command: trail the train and eliminate David. However, their access to station and train surveillance is abruptly severed by their Korean contact, who declines further involvement in corporate infighting, citing a flurry of distress calls stemming from the train incident.

Undeterred, Juno deploys her men to intercept David at the upcoming terminal. Anticipating this, David presses the emergency brake mere minutes before the train's scheduled halt, orchestrating a covert exit for his family. Juno updates Gun, speculating David might flee via a nearby truck depot. Persuasive and resourceful, Eun-ju convinces a truck driver to offer them refuge. David, with calculated intent, scatters misleading clues to throw off their pursuers, ultimately shaking them loose.

After a night of relentless travel, David and his family arrive at the safe house. Min-hee's birthday looms as a somber reminder of missed celebrations, her spirits dampened. Rebecca, worried they might be traced, seeks reassurance from David, who insists they are secure. Nevertheless, her nerves are frayed when Mr. Kwon, the caretaker, pays an unexpected visit, adding a layer of tension to their sanctuary.

As they nestle into their new surroundings, Eun-ju earnestly beseeches David to cease holding secrets from her heart. He contritely apologizes, his confession of love pouring out like a long-held dam breaking. David then opens up about his apprehensions, expressing how Rebecca has transformed beyond his past recollections. Unbeknownst to them, Rebecca eavesdrops on their intimate exchange, her presence undetected.

Later, she assumes the role of instructor, teaching Min-hee the intricacies of handling a firearm, an act that sends Eun-ju into a tizzy of emotion. David, compelled to step in, brokers peace, urging everyone to coexist harmoniously. However, observing David's interactions with Min-hee only fuels Eun-ju's simmering anger further.

Meanwhile, back in Seoul, Juno engages in a clandestine meeting with Senator Dawson. Dawson unveils a photograph of Oliver alongside Jae Hun-lee, a deceased CIA informant. Hun-lee's recent demise, a mere week prior, has cast a shadow of suspicion on Oliver. Dawson, hinting at the CIA's vigilant eye on Oliver, expresses his desire for a conversation with the latter.

Juno confronts Oliver, her tone laden with reproach, lambasting him for his oversight. She fears that her son's incompetence could spell their undoing. Oliver, in turn, implores his mother to place her trust in him, volunteering to rectify the Rebecca predicament.

In Busan, Gun tracks down Choi and makes his way to the latter's restaurant. In a violent spectacle, he terminates the lives of Choi and a colleague, seizing their passports. Gun then updates Juno, and they devise a plan to ambush David upon his arrival at the Jalgachi market to retrieve the documents. Juno issues Gun an additional directive: to eliminate Rebecca should she attempt to intervene. To ensure the operation's success, she dispatches Oliver, who is well-versed in Rebecca's intricacies, to oversee the takedown.

Back at the safe house, the family gathers to bake a cake, celebrating Min-hee's birthday with joy and warmth. However, Rebecca's fragile equilibrium shatters when David reminisces about a childhood game they once cherished. She confronts him, branding him selfish for embarking on a new family amidst their turbulent past. Her anxiety deepens, fearing that Min-hee might face the perils she once did.

After carefully contemplating her options, Juno surrenders Rebecca's files to Dawson. She alleges that Rebecca went rogue, eliminating Karpov, and claims that David miraculously resurfaced from his presumed death to rescue his daughter. Dawson requests time to authenticate these revelations, the weight of their implications hanging heavily in the air.

In Busan, David becomes aware of Choi's tardiness and promptly dials his restaurant. A lady answers, her voice tinged with urgency, conveying that something untoward has transpired. David initiates his departure but, noticing operatives tailing him, employs evasive maneuvers to shake them off, ultimately doubling back to the safe house. Unfortunately, Gun manages to track him back to the residence.

David and his family hastily prepare for exile. However, their escape is cut short when they are spotted. David proposes an ingenious plan to charter a fisherman's boat to Geoje Island. They hustle to the vessel, only to find the captain requesting a brief respite to prepare the engine.

David tasks Rebecca with engaging the operatives while instructing Eun-ju to conceal herself with Min-hee, arming her with a gun as a precaution. Rebecca deftly diverts the operatives' attention, allowing David the window to concoct a fuel bomb. A fierce confrontation ensues between David and Gun, with David emerging victorious, rendering Gun incapacitated. Meanwhile, Eun-ju valiantly safeguards Min-hee. David returns to her aid before rushing back to prevent Rebecca from taking Oliver's life.

Oliver, in a moment of desperation, confesses that Juno was the traitor who betrayed David. Seizing Oliver's phone, David dials Juno's number, his voice dripping with the promise of retribution. The episode culminates in a tense standoff, with David aiming his gun at Oliver. A gunshot echoes through the air, leaving viewers in suspense, uncertain whether David has pulled the trigger on Oliver...
