Episode 11 of "Law and the City" kicks off with an elderly gentleman named Park Man-su, stepping into the Hyungmin Law Firm in search of legal assistance. However, both Du-seok and Ryu-jin turn him down abruptly. Park Man-su, seeking representation for a real estate dispute, insists that a particular piece of land has been unlawfully taken from him. The catch? He is unable to afford the legal fees upfront, proposing to pay once the land is restored to its rightful owner. Yet, their resolve remains unyielding. In a surprising twist, Na Gyeong-min orders Ju-hyeong and Mun-jeong to take on the case against all odds.
Elsewhere, Hee-ji embarks on her maiden voyage as a public defender, facing the challenges head-on. Meanwhile, Kim Hyung-min receives a report from his secretary that members of her foundation and company executives are critical of her extensive involvement at the law firm. When he inquires about her dedication, she remains tight-lipped. On a different note, Kim Ryu-jin inquiries about the doctoral program with Sang-gi, who reveals that the university wouldn't consider him if he continued working at the firm, effectively dashing his hopes for further academia.
Turning back to Mr. Park, Ju-hyeong and Mun-jeong dive into his case with vigor. To their astonishment, they uncover that the actual owner of the disputed land is not Park himself, but his long-time friend, Han In-su. Han's grandchildren have entrusted Park with the responsibility to fight for their inheritance.
In a separate development, Sang-gi encounters a new client, Choi Yun-su, a young man who had signed a lease agreement for an apartment through a real estate company. Tragically, the apartment owner now claims ignorance of the contract and is evicting Yun-su. An orphan with nowhere else to turn, Yun-su's plight deepens. They confront the real estate office, where the owner shifts the blame onto a rogue employee who has vanished. Adding insult to injury, the owner denies the existence of any power of attorney, despite Yun-su producing one shown to him by the said employee.
Ju-hyeong and Mun-jeong venture to the site of Mr. Park's claimed land, now supposedly owned by the Kwak family. They meet one of Han In-su's grandchildren, who praises Park's benevolent efforts. However, when the lawyers delve into their research, they uncover discrepancies in the land area as described by Mr. Park. The intrigue deepens, painting a picture of a more complex narrative than initially perceived.
Later, Mun-jeong receives a phone call from her friend, who excitedly informs her of a vacancy for an in-house legal counsel position within her company. Intrigued, Mun-jeong agrees to ponder over the opportunity. When she and Ju-hyeong present Mr. Park with their findings regarding the discrepancy in the land area, his anger flares up, vowing to seek services from a different law firm.
Meanwhile, Hee-ji acquires the specifics of her public defense case, which entails defending an elderly woman named Sun-ja. Sun-ja, who had been her younger brother Myeong-jae's caretaker for a decade, ultimately ended his life. Myeong-jae, confined to bed due to dementia and pneumonia, had been under her care for a long time.
Elsewhere, Sang-gi and Yun-su visit the residents of the apartment complex, snapping photographs of their contracts. To their astonishment, each contract is accompanied by a power of attorney clause, starkly contradicting the real estate owner's earlier statements. The owner clarifies that they indeed held power of attorney until recently, when the building's owner decided to revoke it.
Later, the quintet of lawyers converges for dinner, swapping tales of their respective challenges. During Yun-su's court hearing, Sang-gi argues passionately that the apartment owner had signed numerous power of attorney documents with the dates left blank, allowing the real estate company to fill them in at their convenience. This loophole led to Yun-su being scammed. Since the owner never retrieved his power of attorney documents, he bears some responsibility for the fraud. The judge suggests a settlement, stipulating that the owner must honor Yun-su's lease agreement. Following the hearing, Yun-su and Sang-gi share a meal, during which Sang-gi discovers Yun-su's aspirations of attending college.
Elsewhere, Chang-won crosses paths with his father, who once again tries to persuade him to join the family business. However, Chang-won stands firm in his refusal. Meanwhile, Ju-hyeong achieves a breakthrough in his case when he consults the national archives and retrieves an older map of his client's land. He discovers that the district borders had shifted over the years, aligning with Mr. Park's claims this time. Ju-hyeong promptly contacts Mr. Park, requesting a meeting. Although Mr. Park agrees, he fails to show up.
Hee-ji finds herself behind bars, where she encounters Sun-ja, an elderly inmate unconcerned with lessening her own prison term and subsequently departs. Some time later, Hee-ji's son and daughter pay her a visit, escorting her to her mother's abode. There, amidst personal belongings, Hee-ji discovers a flyer advertising a care center. Upon inquiring, an employee reveals that Sun-ja had been deemed ineligible for financial assistance due to an insurance payout received upon her cancer diagnosis. Intriguingly, Sun-ja had utilized this money to care for Myeong-jae.
Hee-ji seeks out Sun-ja once more, confiding in her that the reason behind her brother's demise was her inability to abandon him in a state of helplessness. She implores Sun-ja to allow her to argue for a lesser sentence in court, while Sun-ja should face consequences proportionate to her actions. In court, Hee-ji passionately advocates for Sun-ja, urging the judge to consider the full spectrum of her circumstances.
Elsewhere, Sang-gi approaches his mother, requesting old scholarship certificates from his past. To his astonishment, he learns that the very foundation that financed his legal education is headed by none other than Kim Hyeong-min.
Meanwhile, Chang-won awakens to an unwelcome surprise: Jang Su-gil occupying his office. It transpires that Su-gil's indiscretions behind the wheel after indulging in alcohol led to a minor mishap. Yu-deok urges Chang-won to take on the case, but he steadfastly refuses, opting instead to resign from his position.
