Caught – Season 1 Episode 5 1

Flash forward to the present, where Margarita now serves as the housekeeper seen earlier conversing with Juliana when Ema attempted to secure an interview. Struggling to maintain order, Ema urges Bruno to tidy up the house, only to meet with his curt disdain. She tries to empathize with him, but her efforts fall on deaf ears. Frustrated by her uncooperative son, Ema confronts Marcos with CCTV footage, revealing a sorrowful expression as he recounts the truth behind the incident.

A memory from the past unfolds, depicting Fran Briguel compelling Marcos and Martina to board the same private jet. Following Martina's embarrassing incident and Marcos' business engagement, Fran instructs him to send Martina back home. When Marcos arrives at the hotel, he finds Martina in a state of distress. Fran had nearly confronted her until she locked herself in and threatened to go live, exposing everything. Marcos discourages her from reporting Fran, citing his immense power and influence.

In the present day, Marcos is consumed by regret regarding how he handled Martina's plight. He did check in on her after the trip, but she was preoccupied with an audition. Ema then confronts Herrera, who maintains his belief in Fran's innocence regarding the recent cases. Instead, he enlightens her about Fabian, the assailant who targeted Camila, revealing him as the predator lurking through a video game. They have also determined that the serial abuse case is unrelated to Martina's murder. In fact, Herrera lays partial blame on Ema for compromising Martina's case by indirectly leading to Leo's demise.

Ema's heart is heavy with the revelations, driving her straight home where an eerie stillness prevails, the house spotless yet devoid of Bruno's presence. The rift between her and her son gnaws at her, her sorrow finding solace only in Vicky's comforting embrace.

Elsewhere, Fran's anger echoes through the phone lines as he lambasts Marcos for a workplace fiasco. Marcos, deflecting, inquiries after Ema, to which he casually replies with a lie of omission. Meanwhile, the foundation stands on the brink of eviction, victimized by Leo's tarnished reputation. They turn to Ema for aid, revealing a starting twist: Fran and the foundation are next-door neighbors, and the entire surrounding acreage belongs to the Briguels. The foundation's land, now in jeopardy, faces an inevitable fate at a forced and cheap auction.

Delving into land records, Ema unearths a history: the foundation's land once belonged to the Browns, donated to Leo by Marcos' father. The Browns, subsequently, lost their remaining land to the Briguels' grasp. The journalists' collective insight dawns—Martina was never the intended prey; Leo was. He must have steadfastly refused to sell to Fran, prompting a sinister plot. By casting Leo as a monster, the foundation's land value would plummet, clearing the path for Fran to monopolize the entire district under his thumb.

Determined to uncover the truth, Ema confronts her mother, Edelina, only to find her mind clouded by senility. Margarita, protective, steps in, gently but firmly ushering Ema out. Desperation sets in as Vicky adopts a disguise, interviewing Marcos' wife, Mercedes Brown, feigning curiosity in her professional endeavors. Sympathy for Marcos flows as Vicky learns of his exile from the Browns and his forced allegiance to Fran, his arch-rival. Mercedes unmasks a layer of Marcos' story, revealing him as a scapegoat at his former employer, with Fran as his unexpected savior.

Meanwhile, Ema endeavors to engage in conversation with Armando, who uncovers the truth that Margarita was once Leo's friend. Driven by a desire to set things right, Ema seeks assistance from Juliana, only to be met with refusal and accusations. Juliana blames her for Leo’s demise, shutting her out completely.

Elsewhere, Bruno has been taking refuge at Fer’s place. When he returns home to fetch a change of clothes, Fran unexpectedly arrives and threatens the young boy, accusing Ema of trespassing into his family home and causing distress to his mother. Bruno, upset and distressed, embraces Ema upon her return. Touched by her son's ordeal, Ema considers withdrawing from the case to shield him, but Bruno insists she confront and bring down Fran.

Determined, Ema once again makes her way to his family home. With heartfelt pleas, she urges Margarita to seek justice for Leo. Moved by her perseverance, Margarita relents. A flashback unfolds, revealing a long-standing rumor that the Briguels had Nazi ties. A younger Marcos, desperate to save his family’s land from being confiscated by the Briguels, sets out to find proof. One fateful night, he breaks in alongside Leo. Their mission takes a dangerous turn when a youthful Fran returns home, catching the boys in the act as they accidentally harm Margarita. While Leo manages to escape, Marcos is captured and takes the blame, resulting in his exile to Buenos Aires. Leo, filled with remorse, apologizes profusely, and Margarita, over time, grants him forgiveness.

In this vivid narrative, emotions run deep, and the stakes are raised as past secrets and present conflicts intertwine.

Diego, Vicky, and Ema harbor suspicions that Fran is orchestrating a campaign against Marcos and Leo. Diego dives into investigating whether Fran is the mastermind behind the scandal plaguing Marcos' company. Meanwhile, Vicky scrutinizes the foundation's bylaws, while Ema seeks out Marcos for a confrontation. She requires his assistance in bringing Fran down, but he brushes her off, insisting that he can't be of any help. Intrigued, Ema inquiries about his reasons for taking the blame for Leo. He asserts that he did so to shield Leo, who lacked the support of a wealthy family. However, he incessantly pleads for assurance that Ema won't expose the CCTV footage featuring Martina and him.

Suddenly, Vicky's call interrupts Ema's conversation. She reveals a bombshell: Marcos is a scammer, and he is solely responsible for the scandal. Furthermore, the bylaws stipulate that the foundation's land will be bestowed upon the Brown heir—Marcos.

As Caught Episode 5 draws to a close, Ema confronts Marcos, her phone's recorder already rolling. She provokes him, piecing together his motives and how he framed Leo. With Marcos' finances decimated by the scandal, reclaiming the foundation's land would have been his sole ticket back to prominence. Frustration boils over, and in a fit of rage, he knocks her unconscious.
