Citadel – Season 2 Episode 2 1

As Abby arrives at the designated meeting spot, Mason awakens to find her missing. The contact turns out to be Carter, who attempts to reveal something Mason has been concealing about Abby's true origins. Before he can impart any further information, Carter is unexpectedly gunned down by the encroaching Manticore agents.

The ensuing chaos erupts as the Manticore agents storm the supermarket, forcing Carter to hand over the car keys to Abby and instructing her to hide. As she makes a desperate attempt to escape through the door, Kyle detonates a grenade, killing one agent but causing the other to pursue her relentlessly. Just as the pursuer is about to capture her, Mason arrives in the nick of time, injuring the agent in a fierce struggle. While Mason engages in a fight with another Manticore agent, the wounded agent manages to abduct Abby and flee the scene.

Mason returns to the house to prepare for the rescue mission but is confronted by Nadia, who is enraged by Mason's eight-year absence from her and Asha, as well as his revelation as the mole. He confesses that he had no knowledge of Dahlia's Manticore affiliation and sought revenge solely for his father's brutal death at Citadel's hands. Nadia warns him to stay away from her and Asha, vowing to kill him if she ever lays eyes on him again.

Meanwhile, in France, Hutch has obtained a new forged passport for Orlick and they await a train bound for Italy. Meanwhile, Braga's anger surpasses his concern for the damage done to his house - the blood on the wooden floors and the shattered marble table are a constant reminder of Orlick's departure. Upon learning that Hutch was once a CIA agent, he enlists his assistant Charlotte's help in summoning McCaffery.

Joanna shares with him a tale of a Korean hacker who can aid them in rectifying the mind control software, albeit one who operates as a ghostly entity. She requests him to ask Aparna to temporarily cease following Nadia's trail and instead focus on locating the elusive hacker, while they continue their search for Orlick.

Meanwhile, in a hotel bathroom, Nadia sits immersed in ice-cold water, tears streaming down her face as she grapples with the betrayal by Mason. Asha attempts to lift her spirits by recalling her grandfather's words that Nadia is the smartest person they know. Despite Asha's desire for companionship, Nadia insists that they must get accustomed to being alone for the time being, as they can't have anyone around them at present. She's weary of being betrayed.

In Italy, Orlick and Hutch arrive and meet up with Alessandro, a Reuters employee. They task him with running a story the next day, employing either fancy motivational rhetoric or the threat of violence from Hutch if he refuses. In France, Joanna receives CCTV audio from the Gradarenar and discovers that Mason doesn't want Abby to uncover her true identity.

In England, Mason breaks into his mother Dahlia's house, who is believed to be deceased, seeking her assistance in locating Abby. Abby is being held captive in the same location where Orlick was found in France. Joanna visits her and reveals that she has a scar on the back of her neck, which she believes was the result of a car accident. Joanna calls her Celeste.

Back in England, Dahlia decrypts the phone Mason had taken from the individuals who abducted Abby and discovers information about Braga. Upon learning that Orlick is still alive, Dahlia tries to persuade him to let her help. She reminds him that he betrayed Citadel, so his friends will come after him, as well as Braga and Manticore. Dahlia asserts that he can trust her more than Orlick, the man who orchestrated the drone strike and gave the order to kill his father.

Elsewhere, Nadia witnesses the news of Orlick's plane crash and decrypts the message, knowing where to meet him. At the episode's conclusion, Orlick procures three burner phones and calls Joe, instructing her to remain in place and keep the girls safe. He's working tirelessly to ensure their safety, as he always has. When the stars fall from the sky, they'll know they're safe.
