Cross – Season 2 Episode 2

Published: Mar 04 2026

Episode 2 of Cross season 2 begins with Donnie's arrival at Beverly's house, snapping a picture and forcing her into action. His demeanor is playful and full of smiles, but beneath the surface, this is a serious matter. Beverly works at the local bank and has been targeted because of her close association with Richard Helvieg. She's forced to open a safety deposit box for Rebecca, who's posing as a client (this time in a much better disguise compared to the casino).

Cross – Season 2 Episode 2 1

When Beverly tries to hide the box inside another locker, Rebecca reveals herself to be very much a part of this. There are classified documents inside this box, and after taking them, Rebecca forces Beverly out to the rendezvous point.

At the rendezvous point, Rebecca slits Beverly's throat after revealing that her name is all over the flight logs and she knew about Helvieg's sex trafficking. She decides to keep quiet about it.

Meanwhile, John is still reeling after finding out his mum is still alive. He confronts Alex about this, who admits he's known about her since they were kids. This revelation completely breaks John, as he realizes his best friend has been lying to him all this time.

Alex tries to explain himself at the station, but John is having none of it. Kayla shows up late and admits they haven't got very far with the evidence on this "gray man." The man from the conference is obviously invisible in crowds but he may be working with someone on the inside. The officers decide to pursue this lead instead.

It doesn't take long before the officers catch wind of Richard Helvig's death. The officers work to find a possible connection between him and Lance Durand, but it does connect back to the first scene we saw in episode 1.

When Alex and Kayla realize the fingers sent to Lance were those of Helvig's, they head back to see Lance and question him. He obviously knew about Richard Helvig and the pair were in business together.

Lance explains that during the pandemic, he was unable to bring his food production workers into the country. Fortunately, Helvig helped reclassify these workers as essential, allowing them to commence work. However, Lance's association with Helvig ended abruptly when it was discovered that Helvig was a sex trafficker. The idea of an accomplice at the meeting resonated well with the group, leading them to learn about a possible accomplice in Mackenzie Estelle Zhukov.

Alex and Kayla visit the psychiatric ward where she's working and show her a picture of "weird smile guy." She immediately recognizes him as John Ramos, a former patient she used to hang out with. Despite her limited information, the pair senses that she's hiding something and decide to plant false information about Ramos's predicament as a means of following her.

Meanwhile, Kayla receives a call from the individuals who have been hounding her about Bad Religion. They set up a video conference with her, where - when the countdown ends - it reveals Maggie. Maggie didn't set up the call, and it becomes clear that both of them are in deep trouble. She gives the name of Ibrahim Mustafa, an archivist, who could help them.

Margaret then kills herself on camera after pleading with Kayla to get Mastermind to leave her family alone. Back to Mackenzie, she heads off to Chicago to meet with John Ramos. The pair are deeply in love, and as they talk, Alex and Kayla eventually give chase when they try to escape the cops.

This chase leads them underground, through the subway, where Ramos is hiding out. Unfortunately, he rigs the place to blow up, and when Alex and his team eventually make it inside, the place is a charred mess and Ramos is nowhere to be seen. Out of the evidence left, they do find casino chips, legal transcripts, and even pickled fingers in a jar. However, one thing they do get is a real name: Lincoln Esteban. He arrived in the country illegally, which is why it's been hard to track him down.

On one of the charred documents, they manage to find coordinates that lead them to a border town in Texas. As the episode concludes, Kayla learns that she's on her own and doesn't have any backup to help her with this blackmail. Roy isn't giving her FBI assets, and she's going to have to figure this out before it's too late. Kayla shows up at the prison as the episode ends, enlisting the help of none other than Bobby Trey.
