Cross – Season 2 Episode 5

Published: Mar 04 2026

In the fifth episode of Cross season 2, the police conduct an autopsy on Lincoln's body, revealing a point-blank gunshot wound that appears to be self-inflicted. Although we know it was Rebecca who pulled the trigger, the police are stumped. John and Cross discuss the findings, noting that they have prints on the gun, GSR, and bullet trajectory that all seem to fit the suicide scenario. However, Cross senses that there's more to the story. He believes that the tattoos referencing "the light" on his body are a clue to Rebecca's identity, and that her face painted in the basement also supports this theory.

Cross – Season 2 Episode 5 1

Meanwhile, Kayla discovers Bobby Trey in her apartment. He shows her footage of Thompson killing himself, but Kayla is shocked to realize it's a deepfake. It seems that Bad Religion has been behind this entire program and is trying to pin the blame on Kayla for selling untraceable guns and vetting soldiers for a study. Kayla encourages Trey to use his contacts to remove the deepfake and find out who's really behind it. However, this proves to be easier said than done since their entire operation has been raided. The only solution is to go through official FBI channels with a man named Bruce Folsom.

Cross comes to see Lance, who is in the midst of damage control with the public. He does a talk-show called Convergence with Hillary McCaffey and feigns ignorance over the use of undocumented migrants. Lance's public plea may have fooled the masses, but it doesn't work with Cross and Kayla. They call him out for keeping secrets from them and making their job harder. Along with finding the woman behind these murders (Rebecca), Cross promises to get to the bottom of what's happening at Crestbook too.

With a picture of Rebecca, the manhunt turns to her and it doesn't take long before they find a connection with Gabriela. Apparently, she was involved in a whistle-blower lawsuit for wrongful death and injury of workers in the past. This fits neatly with Gabriela's daughter (which we know is Rebecca), and Cross's team slowly starts to close in on her.

Kayla and Cross race to Sunrise, Florida, to confront Rebecca, whose real name is Luz Porras. Clara, now known as Clare Matthews, has also been found. However, Donnie advises against this confrontation, believing it to be a risky move. Instead, he drives them to an abandoned Crestbook plant to show why he's so determined to take down the company.

His farm is just over the hill, and Crestbook's practices have devastated their land. His sister needed an inhalator due to the toxic chicken waste they poured in their fields, his father worked himself to exhaustion, and their wells were drained, preventing any crop growth. In a fit of anger, Donnie sneaked in one night and set the chicken coop ablaze. However, he was unaware that children were residing there at the time. This incident has haunted him ever since, further solidifying his resolve against Crestbook.

Meanwhile, John continues his investigation into his mother's case. The report claims five shots were fired that night, but the audio footage suggests six. There's a sixth bullet missing, and the blood spatter indicates someone else was in the house at the time.

Cross confronts Rebecca about the murders, though he lacks concrete proof or evidence to support his theories. Rebecca, however, shifts the focus onto Crestbook and Lance Durand. The tension is palpable as both parties exchange heated words, each accusing the other of their respective grievances.

Cross navigates the minefield and presents his theory that she was the one who killed Lincoln. Turning off his recorder, he speaks candidly to Rebecca, emphasizing that Lance does deserve to be taken down but not in the way she intends. Cross proposes that she hand over all the evidence she has to him, so they can bring him down the right way. Cross empathizes with her predicament, recalling his own rage from season 1. However, Kayla doesn't think this is the right move and questions his judgment and pride in this matter.

Annoyed, Kayla leaves and meets with Roy in a parking lot. He's not pleased about Bobby Trey confronting Bruce, and there's even an incident report filed against him. Kayla is on thin ice and has limited time to get this right.

Kayla has done her research and presents evidence to Roy of his corruption, which is enough to twist his hand and agree to Bruce's help in uncovering this deepfake. It doesn't take long, and Kayla realizes that it's someone called Felicia. While she's with Bruce, Cross calls and apologizes for cutting the feed. As they talk, a car smashes into Cross, taking him out of the game. When Donnie approaches him, Bobby Trey unexpectedly arrives and offers his help.

As for Rebecca, she continues her crusade and confronts Senator Ashford. Her mother, an investor in Crestbrook, is part of the cover-up and willingly took bribes to keep her mouth shut about illegal operations. However, Rebecca wants to use him to gain leverage to take down the company.
