In the fifth episode of "Daldal," Anita wakes up from a nightmare at the railway station, her mind reeling with the thought of Sajid's death. Her memory is flooded with images of her mother's soothing lullaby, a comforting reminder of her childhood. As the police interview a man who saved Sajid's life after he narrowly escaped death by jumping onto the tracks, Anita reaches out to Jatin, seeking any information that could help her understand the case better.

Meanwhile, Rita visits Sajid at the hospital, where the doctor informs her that he has overdosed on drugs and will be under observation for the next eight hours. Enraged, Rita confronts Vikram about his involvement in the case and accuses him of having Sajid followed by his informant.
That night, Vikram calls Sanjay, requesting him to close the case now that Sajid has been confirmed as the killer based on fingerprint scans. The following day, Anita meets Jatin outside his apartment, determined to get more information about the case.
At her quarters, Rita experiences a panic attack, thinking about her mother. She attempts to call her dealer to procure more drugs but gets distracted by a call from a local reporter. The reporter reveals that news of Sajid being the murderer is making headlines online.
Anita reads the same news article and realizes that Jatin's intel isn't exclusive to her for her article. Jatin reveals that the police were also investigating a man named Anant, who was Sajid's partner.
Rita goes to her office and asks her team to write an article about how the police have been conducting a shoddy investigation to pin the murders on an innocent drug addict like Sajid. Another reporter mentions Chandu Naik, which reminds Anita of the year 2015 when she went looking for Sajid in the slums where he lived.
After Sajid was beaten up by his uncle, he sought refuge in Chandu's abode. Chandu imparted to Anita that Sajid was currently recuperating at Prabhat's rehabilitation center. Sanjay reached out to Rita, congratulating her on unraveling the case. He endeavored to divert Rita's attention by assigning her an interview, while Vikram compelled the physician to discharge Sajid for his arrest. Sajid was grappling with severe drug withdrawal symptoms.
Rita enlightened Indu about the police's attempt to undermine the case by casting blame solely on Sajid. They delved into the murder of Edward Fernando and the presence of women's cosmetics at an all-boys orphanage. Rita realized that the orphanage was housing a girl under the guise of a young boy. Both officers contemplated the possibility of Edward being murdered by the girl he was falsely accused of assaulting, and they wondered if that girl was Anant.
Indu delved into the orphanage records and discovered two boys named Anant. She claimed that one of the two Anants had never been adopted. Rita returned home, determined to decipher the details of the case that had perplexed her. Upon her return to the station, she found Vikram intimidating and coercing Sajid into confessing to the murders. Rita addressed Sajid on this matter, urging him not to take the fall for Anant. Sajid, in a panic, confessed to all the murders to save Anita/Anant.
Indu contacted Rita to inform her that Anant was taken to the orphanage by a foreigner named Lolita. She claimed that there were no records or address details for the woman, but only a phone number registered under the name of a police officer, Jay Acharya.
The episode concludes with Rita searching for police records about Jay and learning that a filmmaker was working on a biopic about the courageous cop. Simultaneously, Anita appeared at Chandu's doorstep, intent on killing him.
