Elsewhere, Phil vents his frustration with the city's handling of the killings to the local press. Redcliffe gathers the team, apologizes for his actions, and steps aside to allow Dulcie to take the lead in the case discussion. Dulcie declares that a woman could be responsible for the murders and proceeds to discuss potential suspects: Margaret Carruthers, Victoria O'Dwyer, Skye O'Dwyer, Sharelle Muir, and Vanessa Lathan.

Margaret is scheduled to meet with Detective Redcliffe and Dulcie. When asked about the town's feelings on her plan for Deadloch, she responds that numerous people had thrown roadkill across festivities in protest. She confirms that Gavin and Trent were among those who participated in the protests.

Aleyna reveals that she was not part of Rod's succession plan and informs Dulcie and Redcliffe that she would never have become mayor without Margaret's support. After conducting a post-mortem on Gavin and Nathan's bodies, pentobarbital was discovered. Cath is the only person in the city with access to this tranquilizer. When Redcliffe and Dulcie ask Cath about who she granted access to it, she admits to Dulcie that Margaret had taken a significant amount from her.

Abby discloses that Margaret and Rod had become distant from one another and that they resented each other deeply. Detective Redcliffe urges Dulcie to use this information to question Margaret further. However, Margaret reveals that she was out of town when she learned about her husband's passing. As a result, Redcliffe and Dulcie must remove her name from the suspect list.

Michelle urgently shares with Dulcie and Detective Redcliffe that she possesses vital information that she feels compelled to reveal. In her rambling, they learn that Sam, and not Rod, was the initial victim. A call from the toxicologist to Dulcie reveals a startling discovery: a woman's pubic hair found in Sam's corpse's mouth. To obtain a DNA sample, they approach Sam's wife, Victoria. Meanwhile, Redcliffe is instructed to take a shower at Dulcie's home as they prepare for the investigation. As they enter, Dulcie is surprised by an unexpected birthday party thrown by Cath. During the celebrations, a revelation is made that Dulcie had an affair with a detective in the past, which is why the couple moved to Deadloch.

Racing to interrupt the mayor as she is about to make an important announcement, the women learn that both the fitness center and the washrooms will be named after Gavin and Trent. The Mayor is being questioned by the media about the cases, but Detective Redcliffe cuts her off, stating that there has been no new information.

Abby speaks with Sharelle about Sam O'Dwye, revealing that he had numerous relationships with various women. Meanwhile, Kate calls Dulcie to ensure that the hair is not Margaret's. As this is happening, Redcliffe collapses under the pressure of being grilled by the media.

The episode's final scene shows someone preparing another syringe while holding a double-bladed knife in their hands.
