In the fifth episode of "Deadloch," Dulcie, Abby, and Eddie huddled in the backseat of a truck as Cath drove them to their workplace to escape the media's relentless gaze. The door at the back of the truck was firmly shut, but the press noticed them anyway. Ray then called to inform them that another corpse had been discovered. When Eddie and Dulcie arrived at the scene, they found Jimmy dead, his body bound to a crucifix by chains. In a fit of frustration over the investigation's pace, Commissioner Hastings rang Dulcie and yelled at her. He promised to provide them with whatever they needed but warned that he would send in another set of investigators if they didn't find a suspect soon.

Abby went to Jimmy's house to search through his cell phone and discovered that he had called Vanessa more than 30 times before his death. When Dulcie and Redcliffe questioned Vanessa, she claimed not to have seen Jimmy at all and that he had an obsession with her. Despite the fact that the case seemed to involve a woman, Mike Nugent was identified as a potential suspect as the investigation progressed. It was revealed that he had not undergone testing because he had to take someone to the medical facility. Redcliffe and Dulcie then set out to look for him.

During their questioning, Redcliffe revealed that they had found evidence in Mike's flat that connected him to the killings. They also brought up the drug that had been discovered, which he claimed belonged to his mother. However, it was quickly discovered that his alibi checked out on the night of Rod's murder, freeing him of the crime.

A drunk Cath was picked up by Dulcie and brought home. She made her way to the station after putting two and two together after reading something in the local paper. While this was happening, Detective Redcliffe reviewed the list of people that Mike had stopped on the night of his alibi and found S. O'Dwyer on it.

Vanessa was sitting at the bar telling Megan about a person who detested all of those who had been murdered while the detectives tried to identify the potential killer. As the episode came to a close, it was revealed that Skye O'Dwyer, the child of Sam O'Dwyer, could be the serial killer.
