Deadloch – Season 2 Episode 2

Published: Mar 26 2026

Episode 2 of Deadloch Season 2 commences with Eddie and Dulcie venturing to discover additional body parts of Don Darrell. Their quest yields little success, as they only find his head floating around. In a moment of reflection, Eddie chooses to offer a few words (and sing a song) in tribute to Triple Pet, her beloved and missing croc. However, as the episode unfolds, it becomes apparent that it might not actually be Triple Pet who has passed away. According to Frank, the deceased croc lacks the same markings.

The following morning, Dulcie updates Eddie on the current situation. With all personnel diverted to Taskforce Hammare for the Swedish backpacker case, they're left to handle this case alone—along with Cath! They make themselves comfortable at the nearby station, where they encounter Sergeant Luke Ferguson. He used to work at HQ and seems to have suffered a mishap that has left his foot plastered up. However, there's no indication yet whether this is relevant to the case!

Ferguson reveals that the autopsy has been conducted but it's taking a considerable amount of time to print. When they finally receive the report, it doesn't yield much information. It states that the parts were removed with a knife but there's no cause of death or time of death. It simply reads "unknown".

Eddie decides they should head over to the Darrell's residence and try to shake things up a bit. En route, they encounter Leo Lee, the child from episode 1, who happens to be a journalist. They offer their assistance with the investigation, but Dulcie isn't having any of it.

The pair pay a visit to the Darrell's, and it doesn't take long before tensions rise and words are taken out of context, which is quite comical. Eventually, they reveal that the last time they saw Don was on Sunday night. They all left at about 10, but Don stayed at the pub for a bit since it was his 70th birthday. DJ, Don's favourite son, seems to have taken the loss particularly hard and went off fishing.

The group then moved to the pub, where Dulcie noticed that the place hadn't been cleaned up since then. There was evidence of a fight too, given the spilled food on the floor and the overall mess. Dulcie also learned that Troy Darrell was the one who had drawn the graffiti of a penis on the billboard, given that he had done the same drawing in Don's birthday card. Furthermore, there seemed to be a mix-up with the crocs. The croc in King's cage was actually Triple Pet, meaning that the croc in the river was King. DJ and Troy were taken to the station, where the latter revealed that the fight at the pub that night was actually because Don had fed Grent (Amber's husband) crab and his throat had closed up. Apparently, King was already in the river by then, since he had gotten out Saturday night when the gate was left open. That's why they had taken Triple Pet thinking Frank was still in jail.

The pair did reveal that Don had his own place, a donga (temporary accommodation) in Croc County. When Dulcie and Eddie arrived, the former was not happy when she wanted to bring Leo onboard to help. However, they needed the manpower and right now, they were at the mercy of forensics. Funnily enough, Abby showed up as part of their group but she was lumped with two interns who seemed more interested in each other than in the course. However, the group did find Amber's bracelet. It turns out she had shown up last night to try and find the money her dad had taken.

Jason Wade, the man in charge of Land of Crocs, had paid Don 300 grand and now he wanted that cash back. Another body part showed up off the coast of Dickie's Knob, so Eddie headed off onto the river with Miki, the park ranger and Eddie's old buddy from school. As for Dulcie, she arrived to question Jason. Apparently, he had given Don the 300k to try and buy King, the largest croc in the Territory. Beyond that, Jason didn't say much else.

Eddie found a foot in the river and also managed to shoot down the drone that had been following her most of the episode too. She brought them both to Leo, where we saw that the severed foot was missing a toe. That toe happened to be outside Don's danga but Toby, the sniffer dog, ate it.

Things took an awkward turn that night though when Eddie checked the drone footage and realized that Don's killer was wearing a croc costume from the Land of Crocs. As she talked, Eddie wound up trapped inside a freezer full of dead crocs. Dulcie meanwhile, wound up coming face to face with King who looked set to take a bite out of her!
