Episode 5 of Deadloch season 2 commences with Dulcie being interrogated about Eddie's behavior in the case. She's received frequent complaints and unfortunately, there's also accumulating evidence against her past misdeeds. Eddie has been caught drunk multiple times in the lead-up to Bushman's death. The Barra Creek sergeant pulled her over for drink-driving on the night of Bushman's death. Even worse, the detectives questioning Dulcie, Wilson, and Greene coerce her answers to make it sound like Eddie intentionally hid the car VIN to prevent her from being incriminated.

Abby and Eddie are on the hunt for who could have poisoned Don. At a local diner, Mary and Lynn come under fire. They bring up the steak cake and try to determine the timing for when it could have been poisoned. It doesn't seem like Mary and Lynn were responsible. When Dulcie catches up with Eddie, they discuss Don's murder, and the former believes that Don was killed as a way of stopping him from disclosing the truth with the backpackers. Unfortunately, before they can continue, Eddie is called in for questioning by Wilson and Collins.
Meanwhile, DJ receives a call from someone telling him he "knows what he's done." It unnerves him a bit as DJ drives back to town. At the same time, Cath realizes that the backpackers may have gone to Patterson Falls. The voice recording of Don confirms that he knows "who's killing all those skinny little girls." This could well be about the backpackers. As they start to get closer to the truth, Eddie is still at the forefront of this Bushy investigation and she realizes that Dulcie is the one who called in the land cruiser.
When Eddie questions Dulcie's conviction, she bites back and brings up how Eddie was in Barra Creek that night and has consistently lied to her throughout this whole time. Unfortunately, their argument sees them go their separate ways. Well, until Miki picks up Eddie on the road that is.
As for Dulcie, back at the station, the Superintendent explains that they've found evidence on CCTV at the HQ car park showing Bushy leaving in his ute before Eddie drives out after him in a cruiser. It would seem like Eddie followed him, but why? Some of this could be related to the secret lover that Bushy allegedly had.
On their journey, Eddie discovers that Miki has a number of deceased crocs in her freezers. She's been finding an abundance of them lately, and whoever has been killing these creatures could face severe consequences, including a substantial fine or at least 10 years in prison. However, it's not Frank, as he has an alibi. Miki doesn't recognize the crocs either, but Eddie believes they could well be from a croc farm. Speaking to Frank, he admits that the tag they have was found on a dead croc. It was lying dead on the bank near his place. Frank thought Don was behind this, so he put the croc in Don's donga.
Meanwhile, Dulcie leaves a message for Eddie apologizing for lying and expressing her confusion. She's determined to fix this and wants to solve the case no matter what. In a box of Bushy's things, she finds a coaster which includes an address for someone called Lisa. Is this Bushy's lover? Anyway, Dulcie shows up and finds a strange guy who agrees to take her to see Lisa. Interestingly, it seems like she's on a farm, but Dulcie's phone runs out of battery en route.
Leo and Abby head off to the Falls, where they discuss the new group dynamic. It's a rather amusing chat, and they eventually show up at their destination. There, they find a donga which holds the two backpackers inside, very much alive and getting intimate. This means that the "skinny little girls" wasn't referring to the backpackers but actually the crocs! The group now need to find out what the backpackers know and exactly what Don said.
Dulcie is obviously unaware of all this and finds evidence of dead crocs in the back of the man's van too. As day turns to night, Abby and Leo return and let Eddie know that the backpackers didn't really know anything. They were showing Don a business card with a phone number ending in 888, crossed off with a new number underneath. Apparently, some guy gave it to them when they were working at the pub. He's a liaison for his company, and the company name? LISA. Dulcie is in big trouble as it becomes clear that this guy was trying to recruit the backpackers to come and work at the company. They were going to be hostesses on these tours but didn't pursue it further because it "sounded illegal." The company was going up in helicopters and shooting crocs.
Turns out they're hunting crocs for trophies, and that phone with the distorted voice telling everybody "I know what you did" is just a prank call from Cherry, who found the phone out in the woods. It's a burner found in the bush. There's one other number on here though, so Eddie and the others ring it and it's answered by none other than Jason Wade.
