Deadloch – Season 2 Episode 6 1

Nicky, upon waking, discovers Rachel's absence and her engagement ring resting on the bedside table. He leaves a revised warning letter on Rachel's pillow, with the word "Not" now crossed out in bold red, signifying a change in his stance.

Rachel leads Nell to the County Clerk's office, where they stealthily enter. She enlists Nell's help in locating any documents related to her family history, starting with the birth, death, and marriage certificates of the Larkin family. Rachel's determination to uncover the secrets of her ancestors, believing that some may have survived the curse, drives their search.

As they trace their family tree back several generations, they discover that several members of her family chose to have children out of wedlock rather than marry. The only one who managed to survive and marry is her great aunt. Rachel's love for Nicky remains unchanged, but she knows that to marry him, she must uncover her great aunt's survival secrets. Their bond deepens as they work together.

Meanwhile, Nicky anxiously tries to reach Rachel while she's away, but she ignores all his calls. Bris suggests that Jules and Nicky join him on a fox hunting trip to strengthen their bond, believing that Nell's presence will help convince Rachel to return to reality. However, Jules and Nicky are hesitant about the trip, which Boris insists they must undertake before Victoria's passing. He emphasizes that once Victoria is gone, life will never be the same, and they must decide if they still want to be a family.

During their hunting trip, Jules and Nicky reconcile, admitting their shared mistakes. The topic of Nell, Nicky's ex, surfaces, and Jules clarifies that he had been in love with her long before she dated Nicky. They also discuss Victoria and Boris's tendency to shield Nicky from the harsh realities of life. Jules advises Nicky to stop striving for perfection in everything, blaming their parents for this. Nicky promises to make things right with Rachel.

Simultaneously, Nicky's trap captures a fox. Unfortunately, the fox breaks its leg to escape. While Nicky and his dad choose to follow the fox's trail, Jules opts to return home. Another argument ensues between Nicky and Jules, with Nicky accusing him of being uncaring. Before Jules leaves, he reveals that he and Nell are getting divorced. Boris warns him against telling Victoria the truth, and then also leaves Nicky alone to hunt down the fox.

For most of the night, Nicky spends his time in the woods searching for the fox. Meanwhile, Rachel and Nell return home to find Portia upset with them for being late to the bachelorette party. Portia confronts Rachel for ignoring all the wedding protocols and reveals that she was dumped at the altar. She then married some man in Vegas to get over the rejection. Moving forward, she asks Rachel to get with the programme and offers to help her summon a spirit.

At the bachelorette party, Rachel, with the help of Portia and a Ouija board, summons the spirit of Aunt Arlene. Initially, nothing happens, but then suddenly something moves on the board. Excited, Rachel asks another question, and the lights turn off. Something hits Portia on the nose. She freaks out once she starts bleeding, and the party ends abruptly. Rachel notices the phrase 'living dead' on the board and alerts Nell.

Meanwhile, Boris stumbles upon Nicky in the woods, revealing the dark secret of his seemingly idyllic marriage with Victoria. Enraged by her betrayal and the deception she'd woven throughout their life together, Nicky storms back home, straight to Victoria's room, demanding an accounting of her infidelity and the myriad other secrets she's been hiding. As he confronts her, Victoria faints.

Elsewhere, Portia retreats to bed after taking her medication. Nell pays a visit to Rachel, who is once again attempting to conjure Arlene's ghost. She tries to comfort Rachel and convince her that Nicky is indeed her soulmate. As they speak, a subtle shift occurs between them, and they find themselves drawn to each other, eventually exchanging a passionate kiss. However, their moment is cut short by Portia's sudden entrance. She seizes Rachel by the head and begins to crawl, muttering through Portia's body that she had summoned her.

To answer Rachel's earlier query, Aunt Arlene's ghost through Portia begins to murmur, "Something living, something dead, something stolen, and something red." The episode concludes with Portia snapping back to reality and realizing she's bleeding from the nose.

In this rephrased version, I've attempted to infuse the story with more vivid language and descriptive details to bring the scenes to life and heighten the emotional impact.
