Delhi Crime – Season 2 Episode 5 1

As the cops arrive on the scene, Thermal sends an urgent SOS to Babloo, prompting a frantic escape for both him and Karishma. Meanwhile, Bhupendra's condition is dire, a stray bullet having found its mark in his arm. Karishma's disappointment is palpable, her anger simmering beneath the surface at her inability to carry out the heinous deed.

The cyber cell officer, Ashutosh, is tasked with delving into Guddu's damaged phone, while Officer Neeti interrogates the enigmatic Pawan Gulati about the crime and his involvement in the murder. When Guddu dares to raise his voice against their inquiries, he's met with a brutal beating from the cops. Despite the constant blows, Guddu persists in his lies. Ashutosh turns to an expert for assistance in extracting images and data from Guddu's shattered phone.

Vartika observes with disdain how Guddu remains non-responsive despite his brutal treatment at the hands of the law. She issues a chilling threat to arrest and charge him for all the deaths, a move that finally breaks him down. He spills the names of his accomplices: Thermal, his uncle Babloo, and Babloo's girlfriend, Karishma.

Neeti shares her findings with Vartika regarding her investigation into Karishma, a makeup artist whose phone number she manages to track down. Meanwhile, Ashutosh reveals photos from Guddu's phone that unequivocally identify Thermal. The cops swiftly zero in on an address.

In a gruesome turn of events, the remaining trio of the Kachcha-Baniyan gang descends into a violent confrontation after Thermal reveals that 40 lakh rupees from their last heist are missing. Babloo, enraged by Karishma's use of the money as a down-payment for her parlour, unleashes a furious tirade. The fight escalates into a vicious brawl, ending with Karishma striking a fatal blow against Thermal and Babloo. She flees the crime scene, disappearing into the shadows and taking refuge in a remote apartment.

As the police vehicles thundered to the address of the Kachcha Baniyan gang, they found the gruesome sight of Thermal and Babloo's lifeless bodies, lying in disarray. Their investigation led them to Karishma, who was found in possession of the murder weapons, making her the prime suspect.

In the hospital, Bhupendra slowly regained consciousness and chatted with her daughter, while Vartika was interrogating the landlord about renting his flat to the criminals. A call from Shubash interrupted their efforts, revealing that Karishma's number was registered under the name of Lata Kumari from Ghaziabad – a remote town far from Delhi.

Vartika and her team embarked on a journey to Ghaziabad to investigate Karishma/Lata. They discovered that the woman had abandoned her home, leaving behind her husband and son to live a life of luxury. Vartika tasked Neeti with investigating the salon Lata had worked at in Ghaziabad.

Their investigation revealed that Lata had always dreamed of living a rich life, similar to her former boss – Karishma, who was the name Lata later adopted. However, despite their best efforts, they couldn't find any trace of Lata. Meanwhile, she was living a low-key life all by herself in a seedy apartment.

At Neeti's house, things were chaotic as Devender was upset with her for prioritizing her work. He was about to rejoin the military after his break, and the couple's disagreements escalated into a massive fight that threatened to shatter their marriage.

The next day, stumped in her investigation, Vartika visited Bhupendra, whose words provided the SHO with a new lead that helped with the investigation. She promptly called Ashutosh and asked him to look up her phone records.

Vartika and the cyber security officer delve into the phone calls, meticulously analyzing each one. Ashutosh reveals a chilling detail: Lata's unsettling late-night call to a certain restaurant. Vartika urges him to delve deeper, and Shubash swings into action, arriving at the restaurant owner's doorstep and, after a meticulous interrogation, escorts him to the police station.

As Vartika notices Neeti's distressed state, she offers a comforting embrace. Soon after, Shubash returns with the restaurant owner in tow, and Vartika questions him in her unique style. He divulges the address where Lata is hiding, and the entire team descends on the location. Lata, unaware of the cops' presence, hears the barking of dogs and becomes suspicious. Seeing the police cars, she flees, leaving Vartika and her team at an empty house with her on the run.

The chase culminates with Lata on the verge of jumping from a rooftop. The Delhi Police manage to apprehend her just in time. In the police car, Lata asserts her actions were in self-defense when questioned about her accomplices' deaths. She then divulges her twisted logic for killing the wealthy senior citizens: it was all about what "belonged" to her.

Lata explains that one of her victims, Mrs. Romila, had promised to aid her in starting her own parlor. But when the rich woman reneged on her promise, Lata felt compelled to take the money by force. Vartika finally realizes that Lata is devoid of conscience, speaking in a narcissistic tone that reveals her twisted worldview.

Lata is finally taken into custody and arrested. Vartika informs Mrs. Romila's daughter of the outcome and adds that it's often challenging to discern the true motivations of these bloodthirsty and money-hungry criminals. She makes a public statement to the reporters about the case's resolution.

As Vartika gets on a call with CP Vijay, he informs her of her promotion to DIG (Deputy Inspector General). The promotion comes with a transfer, and this time, Vartika is headed to a remote location as the season draws to a close.
