The eighth episode of "Dexter: Resurrection" kicks off with Batista hot on Dexter's trail. The tracker, still planted in Dexter's vehicle, serves as Batista's eyes and ears, poised to uncover any deviations from Dexter's usual routine. The latest wrinkle in the narrative is Al, as Dexter methodically crosses each murderer off his list. Our protagonist narrowly avoids losing his opportunity with Al, who is on the brink of fleeing town due to his spooked state, but Dexter manages to orchestrate a last-minute encounter just before Al's departure.

Dexter: Resurrection – Season 1 Episode 8 1

As Dexter prepares for the nocturnal confrontation, assembling his array of tools and selecting a secluded location for his grim task, Batista notices his car has come to a halt and decides to advance for a closer inspection. However, his attempt falls short, leaving him empty-handed.

Meanwhile, Charley confides in Leon about her misgivings regarding Red. His elusive and secretive nature, coupled with the series of murderer deaths, fills her with unease. Leon, however, brushes off her concerns, defending Red's trustworthiness and dismissing her worries as paranoia, even questioning her commitment to her job.

Elsewhere, Harrison finds himself in a precarious situation. Elsa and little Dante continue to grapple with their landlord Vinny, and with Leon Prater's gala looming this weekend, the Empire is fully booked. She finds herself in a bind, unsure of where to turn for shelter.

Harrison unburdens himself to Dexter, who stretches the boundaries of his moral code to consider whether this landlord fits the profile of his targets. It's a significant stretch indeed, further illustrating how Dexter's line between work and family is becoming increasingly blurred.

To compound the woes, Al departs prematurely, leaving Dexter in a bind when he calls that evening, stubbornly withholding the precise location of his Wisconsin hideaway. With Al out of the picture, Dexter is compelled to satisfy his Dark Passenger, yet finds himself devoid of a target.

Back at his abode, the atmosphere is tense as Dexter inadvertently reveals Blessing's daughter the dark secrets of her father's past as a child soldier. She's astonished that Blessing confided in Dexter rather than her, feeling betrayed by his inability to share openly with her. Inevitably, Blessing confronts Dexter, whom he views as disloyal, further gnawing at his frayed nerves and fueling his frustration.

In search of a new focus, Dexter turns his attention to Vinny, the landlord. He masterfully manipulates Vinny into a compromising position, oblivious to Batista's impending approach. Batista, having pinpointed Dexter's whereabouts, arrives just in time to see Dexter slip away. Vinny narrowly escapes, bolting from the building in a state of shock, while the makeshift abattoir remains undisturbed.

Batista alerts Wallace, who rushes to the scene. Faced with scant evidence linking Dexter to the crimes beyond the kill room, the situation looks grim for Batista. Dexter, ever cunning, locates the AirPods and smashes them, disabling the tracker and fostering deeper suspicions in Wallace towards Batista. Nonetheless, she proceeds with the investigation.

At the precinct, Wallace calls Miami PD, where Joey Quinn picks up. She learns that Batista has retired from active duty, prompting speculations about whether Wallace might frame Batista as the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Elsewhere, Gigi and Harrison bond, but her aspirations of becoming a detective take a devastating blow. Harrison, ever empathetic, reminds her of Dexter's notable achievements at Miami PD, reassuring her that her journey isn't over. His kindness blossoms into intimacy, leading them to share a moment in one of the Empire's rooms.

In the meantime, Dexter is overcome with unease, his nerves beginning to fray. Despite this, he musters the courage to join Harrison for dinner, only to find out that Vinny has taken a turn for the better. Vinny is diligently tidying up Elsa's apartment, but the situation soon takes a peculiar turn. Leon Prater unexpectedly strolls into the restaurant where they are dining, his face a picture of astonishment as he exclaims that he had absolutely no inkling that Red had a son. Oh dear.
