As the curtain falls on DI Rays, Supt Ross Beardsmore, portrayed by Ian Puleston-Davies, delivers a poignant reflection on the tragic demise of Rav Mochani. When the floor is opened for DI Rachita Ray, embodied by Parminder Nagra, to share her thoughts, she casts a glance at Patrick Holden, played by Patrick Baladi, choosing to remain tactfully silent. Subsequently, DS Kwesi Edmund, brought to life by Peter Bankole, enlightens the team about the discovery of a gun component at Pawn Haven—a fragment from a 9mm Taurus handgun, identical to the one initially wielded to shoot Frank Chapman. The firearm, subsequently rendered inoperable via an angle grinder, serves as a grim reminder of the crime.

DI Ray – Season 2 Episode 6 1

Discussions swirl around the possibility of Dave being the perpetrator behind his father's demise. Kerry Henderson, gemmed by Gemma Whelan, reassures Rachita of her presence during the forthcoming interrogation of Amara Dhawan. Meanwhile, Suzie, portrayed by Lauren Chapman, collects one of the Chapman sisters from school for a pressing conversation.

Elsewhere, Liam Payne, depicted by Sam Baker-Jones, returns Charlene Ellis', played by Witney White, earring, symbolizing a small gesture of reconciliation. Upon Rachita's entrance, she presents CCTV footage from Greenhills, revealing Amara's clandestine meeting with a medical professional. Prompted by this revelation, Ray dispatches them to ascertain the identity of her acquaintance. As they depart, she delves into Liam's computer, uncovering his secret complaint about her reckless conduct to Beardsmore. In a private chat with Charlene, Liam opens up about DI Ray's leadership qualities, unbeknownst to him that his actions have been discovered.

At the clinic, they converse with the receptionist, who divulges that Amara's appointment was with Dr. Mark Stenbury. In a harrowing twist, Liam and Charlene find Stenbury deceased in his car, an apparent suicide. Amara is then grilled about Sajna's involvement, with Rachita accusing Rav of using Sajna as an organ donor for Jasmin, a revelation that Frank Chapman had uncovered, prompting Rav to safeguard Sajna from harm.

Liam interrupts the tense interrogation to convey Stenbury's fateful decision to Ray, who speculates that the doctor agreed to the operation due to a debt owed to Rav. She vows to speak with Liam later. Returning to the interrogation room, Rachita breaks the news of Stenbury's suicide to Amara, who claims ignorance beyond the operation's occurrence at a private clinic. Driven by desperation, Amara explains that her daughter's kidney failure left her with no room for risk. Rav assured her that Sajna would be cared for post-operation, in exchange for securing a contract.

Kwesi then updates DI Ray with another bombshell: another Chapman family member's DNA was discovered on the gun fragment, accompanied by a partial fingerprint that matches one found on Frank's car door handle—and it's not Dave's. Ray concludes definitively that one of the Chapman siblings is the true culprit behind Frank and Megan's untimely demise, weaving a tangled web of intrigue and betrayal.

Suzie surrenders her fingerprints and submits a DNA swab with utmost cooperation. Elsewhere, Rachita seeks Liam out in private, questioning the motive behind his complaint against her and inquiring about the specifics of her alleged recklessness. Liam firmly denies accusing her of recklessness, clarifying that it was merely a concern, which he had conveyed to Kerry, suggesting she required additional support. He suspects Kerry might have relayed his concerns to Beardsmore, who then began exerting pressure on him.

Ray confronts Kerry, accusing her of scheming against her. To substantiate his claim, he plays back a recording for Kerry to hear her own words. Kerry expresses her disdain for Beardsmore, describing him as an individual stuck in the dark ages and laments working under his supervision. She desperately begs Rachita not to escalate the matter. Meanwhile, Lucy and her daughter also submit their fingerprints and DNA samples, complying with the procedure. Kwesi informs them that they will need Amy's prints as well, but reaching out to her has been unsuccessful.

Suzie, on a phone call, sternly warns someone to keep quiet. Clive informs Ray that he has incriminating evidence linking the mysterious WhatsApp number to Beardsmore. Ray hurries to inform Patrick of this revelation. Patrick proposes a risky plan to lay a trap and trail Beardsmore to uncover the source of the mischief. Rachita acknowledges the plan's peril but emphasizes that the stakes are too high to ignore.

Clive discovers a photo of Frank with Laura Kirkby, a member of the 2004 swimming team and Lou's deceased daughter. He shares this with Liam, recounting Laura's tragic tale. On the day after her 15th birthday, Lou returned home to find Laura had ingested a lethal dose of pills. Lou holds Frank responsible, accusing him of being a pedophile. They discovered Laura's diary, revealing Frank's abusive actions towards her.

Ray visits the school to inquire about Amy, who is known for her privacy yet spends considerable time with a girl named Shabnam. Ray engages Shabnam in conversation about Amy, but she leaves abruptly without disclosing anything significant. Ray tails Shabnam and notices her using her phone incessantly. He confronts Shabnam, inquiring about her knowledge and the recipient of her texts. Shabnam shows her texts with Amy to Rachita, explaining that Amy's aunt gave her a separate phone and picked her up from college. Shabnam hasn't heard from Amy since then.

Ray alerts Liam, suggesting that Frank might have abused Amy. Suzie, engrossed in packing a bag, receives a call from her associate, informing her of Rachita's presence at the college. Suzie instructs him to proceed with their plan. Worried about Amy's whereabouts, Suzie tries but fails to reach her. Liam provides Rachita with the last known location of Amy's phone. Suzie's associate, complying with her orders, pursues Rachita in his car, leading to a dangerous chase. Rachita orchestrates a daring maneuver, causing the associate's car to crash, and subsequently unmasks him.

Rachita urgently communicates her discovery, while Liam phones in to verify that Amy might be at the hospital, only to find her room deserted. Soon, they ascertain her presence on the rooftop. Without hesitation, Rachita dashes up to confront her. Ray, approaching Amy with empathy, reveals her awareness of Frank's loss of control over her. She earnestly asserts her willingness to lend a helping hand, contingent on Amy unraveling the night's harrowing events. Suzie, arriving at the scene, hastily warns Amy to remain silent.

In a moment of vulnerability, Amy confesses her sole intention was to compel Frank into acknowledging his actions, but he remained obstinate. Her actions, meant merely to frighten him, escalated when Frank lunged for the gun, causing it to discharge. Terrified, Amy informed her father, who advised her to return home. Ray, noticing Amy's perilous proximity to the edge, swiftly pulls her back to safety. Suzie, expressing skepticism over Amy's mental clarity, contends that there is an absence of concrete evidence. Amy, however, asserts otherwise, revealing she had recorded their confrontation.

At the police station, Ray and his team intently view the recording, while Rachita supplements their understanding by mentioning Amy's bracelet, tainted with Frank's blood. Kerry solemnly declares Amy's charge of attempted murder, though she anticipates a custodial sentence might be mitigated by her harrowing ordeal.

Upon Suzie's return from Spain, Rav had manipulated her into believing he was the culprit behind Frank's demise, leading to his subsequent abduction. This revelation places Suzie at risk of facing a 14-year sentence for aiding an offender. Liam puzzles over Frank's motive in sending the照片 of Sajna to Rav, hypothesizing that Frank attempted to blackmail Rav into facilitating the exploitation of children for sex trafficking. The investigation takes a broader turn as Beardsmore interrupts to announce that Claire Doyle and the academy will be scrutinized for historical sexual abuse allegations.

Ray insists that the murders were intricately tied to family matters, rather than a turf war. Amidst the unfolding drama, Clive urgently contacts DCI Rich Hands, warning him that their group has been informed upon and urging him to alert the others.

Clive encounters Ray in the confines of their vehicle, revealing that two individuals have deserted their chat group. A palpable silence emanates from Beardsmore's direction, fueling Ray's anxieties that they might have misjudged him about possessing the burner phone concealed within his automobile. Upon Beardsmore's arrival, he hastily retreats into his car, only to be caught in flagrante delicto with the incriminating device in hand. Ray promptly charges him under the Malicious Communications Act, leaving Beardsmore inquisitive about Henderson's awareness of the situation. Ultimately, Beardsmore finds himself compelled to accompany them to Henderson's office, where he voices his grievances loud and clear.

Ray imparts to Kerry the solid evidence they've amassed against Beardsmore, cautioning her to tread carefully should she still harbor ambitions of his endorsement for the promotion board. Kerry, acting swiftly, reaches out to Detective Chief Superintendent Tucker, requesting their presence to apprehend Beardsmore for offenses ranging from malicious communications to obstructing justice. She demands the confiscation of his burner phone. Ray informs the team of Beardsmore's immediate suspension, assuring Clive that Sam would be filled with pride under such circumstances. As Kwesi prepares to depart, Rachita offers him heartfelt encouragement, predicting his triumph in the Detective Inspector exams the following day.

Kerry approaches Rachita, seeking her commitment to submit her recordings to Professional Standards, only to learn of her withdrawal from the East Midlands Police job application. Ray mentions a vacant superintendent position in the same force, hinting at new opportunities. Later, Patrick Holden visits Ray at his residence, the conversation steering them towards the bedroom. Ray then pays a visit to Sajna, who engages in an intimate conversation with her mother about her impending fate. Rachita, too, opens up to her mother, confessing she's exposed the misconduct within the force and has officially submitted her evidence against it.
