In the ninth episode of Dynamite Kiss, we find ourselves moments before the engagement party, with In-ae preparing for her makeup session while contemplating how to save Ji-hyuk's heart from being shattered. Meanwhile, Ji-hye and Choong-gu hatch a plot to derail the festivities by unearthing compromising images of Ji-hyuk and Da-rim. Outside, Ji-hyuk overhears Jun address Da-rim as 'aunt' and the teasing remarks about their supposed marriage, and it all clicks for him - Da-rim had been lying to him.
As the party commences, Ha-yeong refuses to play along and is about to reveal the truth when In-ae suddenly faints, bringing an abrupt end to the engagement party. On their way to the hospital, In-ae wakes up and reveals that she faked her illness to buy Ji-hyuk more time.
At the hospital, In-ae meets with her lawyers to discuss her upcoming divorce from Chang-ho. They are optimistic about reclaiming her property but must plan meticulously to avoid Chang-ho's prying eyes. Meanwhile, Chang-ho enlists Ji-hye's help to expedite the wedding.
Back at the hospital, In-ae urges Ji-hyuk to follow his heart and forget about sacrificing himself for her sake. That night, Ji-hyuk reflects on his mother's words and realizes he still desires Da-rim. The next day at the office, he makes her life difficult out of anger, making her redo the invitation letter for the photography exhibition endlessly.Frustrated and determined, Da-rim does her utmost to appease him. Ha-yeong drops by unexpectedly, and Ji-hyuk confronts her for concealing the truth. Da-rim, misinterpreting the situation, believes the two are kissing in his office. In reality, Ji-hyuk was merely trying to silence Ha-yeong before Da-rim overhears the truth he knows. He asks Ha-yeong to remain engaged as he figures out his next move, explaining his mother's situation and apologizing for misunderstanding her. Ha-yeong is relieved to finally be free of the mistress title and tells Ji-hyuk that she will continue to pursue Seon-u despite his affections for Da-rim. For her, love deserves to be cherished even when it is one-sided.
As she leaves, Ha-yeong confronts Da-rim, revealing she knows she is single. Ji-hye overhears part of the conversation, but Ji-hyuk and Ha-yeong quickly cover it up with a peculiar explanation. Later, at a meeting with his father, Ji-hyuk reveals he is considering staying at the company, which pleases Chang-ho but irritates Ji-hye.
With her path now clear, Ha-yeong visits Seon-u and flirts with him, unaware that Seon-u is more concerned about Ji-hyuk knowing the truth. Back at the office, Da-rim has had enough of Ji-hyuk's attitude and asks why he is angry at her. He gives her a chance to come clean, but she misses it. Finally, he asks her point-blank, and she confesses to her lie. He doesn't give her another chance to explain and fires her on the spot.
For the rest of the day, Da-rim worries about her colleagues finding out the truth. In the evening, she drops by the hospital to see her mother, Myeong-soon, who is excited about her discharge and doesn't notice the sadness in her daughter's eyes. Seeing how proud her mother is about how she held things together, Da-rim resolves to visit Ji-hyuk and convince him to let her stay. She calls him repeatedly but gets no answer. Despite the heavy rain, she makes her way to his place determinedly.
As she lingered there, her fingers tapping out a nervous message on her phone, she was on the verge of giving up when he appeared, a warm welcome with an umbrella in hand. He escorted her back to his abode and listened patiently to her explanation. In the end, Da-rim pleaded for a chance to continue working until she found another job. Though irritated, Ji-hyuk promised to ponder the matter. He spent the night in contemplation, weighing his options.
As Da-rim made her way home, Seon-u offered her comfort, but his sudden confession caught her off guard. He asked her to take her time before responding to his proposal. The next morning, Da-rim avoided Seon-u, feeling self-conscious about the unexpected turn of events.
At the office, Da-rim felt a mounting anxiety about what Ji-hyuk might do to her. However, when Ji-hyuk caught a glimpse of her assisting a cleaner, he was reminded of the initial reasons for his attraction to her. For the remainder of the day, he chose to work alongside Da-rim, collaborating on the promotion posters for the photography exhibition in Gangnam.
Back at Jin-tae's residence, Tae-young intercepted the damaging photos that Ji-hye had sent to their father. He paid her a visit and warned her that sending those pictures was a mistake. Their father would only push ahead with the wedding if he learned of Ji-hyuk's relationship with Da-rim. He offered to aid her in disrupting Ji-hyuk's engagement to his sister. As he was leaving, he spotted Da-rim and Ji-hyuk departing together.
At the hospital, Myeong-soon congratulated In-ae on taking the bold step of divorcing her husband. She welcomed In-ae to stay at her house, secretly working on gathering the necessary evidence for In-ae's divorce case. Meanwhile, Ji-hyuk tasked Da-rim with driving, only to regret it after witnessing the extent of her driving skills. She admitted her anxiety, and he promised not to let her go just yet. The rest of the day was spent with subtle flirtations from his side. In the afternoon, he and Seon-u were interviewed together to promote the exhibition, their chemistry palpable in the air.
Ji-hyuk expresses his admiration for Seon-u's acting prowess, while the latter promises to shoulder the responsibility of caring for Da-rim going forward. Just as Seon-u calls, Da-rim prepares to leave, only to be pulled back by Ji-hyuk as he pins her against the door. She is taken aback by his sudden gesture, and the episode concludes with Ji-hyuk passionately kissing her, conveying his feelings in a raw and intense manner.
