The second episode of Emily in Paris Season 5 unfurls with Emily, Julien, and Luc embroiled in a meeting with Bianca Bavazza, where they delve into the impending launch of the Bavazza espresso martini, an event that promises a captivating performance by Mindy. Mindy's arrival in Italy follows shortly thereafter, and as she greets Emily, the latter is off to a meeting with Antoine and the Muratoris. Meanwhile, Alfie texts Mindy, extending an invitation to lunch, unaware of her relocation from Paris.
At the Muratoris' meeting, Sylvie makes a bold suggestion that Giancarlo helm the ad film, a proposition Antonia eagerly accepts. Marcello is stunned to discover that Emily has convinced Antonia to embark on a social media journey for Muratori. Antoine's invitation to stay in Solitano necessitates his calling Alfie in Italy for assistance.
Julien learns of Genevieve's sighting of Alfie and Mindy together. Instead of informing Luc, he stumbles upon Gianna, also known as Jane, who introduces herself as the new consultant for Agence Grateau. Emily is taken aback by this development and questions why she wasn't informed, especially as the office head. Sylvie disregards Emily's concern and insists that Gianna is a crucial addition due to her connections with esteemed brands like Fendi.
That evening, Marcello and Emily take Mindy out for dinner, where they encounter one of Marcello's exes, Lucia. In private, Lucia issues a cautionary warning to Emily about trusting Marcello, leaving her uneasy. The next morning, Emily shares this with Mindy, who points out that Emily herself maintains friendships with her exes. This reassures Emily as she carries her grandmother's vintage Fendi purse to her next meeting.
However, during the meeting with the head of Fendi, the Agence Grateau team struggles to make an impression. The woman notices that Emily's purse is a fake but half-heartedly commends her suggestion. Sylvie is disappointed with her team's failure to secure the client. Later that day, Emily attends the Bavazza espresso martini launch alongside Mindy. When Mindy refuses to swim in the massive martini glass filled with coffee, Emily turns to Gianna for help.
As the evening progresses, Sylvie finds herself embroiled in a heated phone conversation with Laurent, their long-distance marriage coming under strain. The next day, at the Bavazza event, Sylvie introduces Giancarlo to Marcello, while Emily apologizes to Sylvie for disrupting the Fendi meeting, only to notice Marcello exchanging an unusual level of friendliness with Celia, a woman in attendance.
Mindy arrives at the venue in a speedboat, courtesy of Gianni, and during her performance, she is startled to see Alfie in the audience but manages to deliver an enjoyable act nonetheless. Afterwards, as Alfie and Mindy engage in conversation, Emily joins them, catching up with her old friends.
Not long after, Mindy is recruited to appear on the Italian celebrity dance competition Bailando! Bailando! Bailando!, and as she goes to change, Julien attempts to warn her about getting involved with Alfie. Meanwhile, Emily feels uneasy when Marcello introduces her to Celia, his childhood friend.
Elsewhere on the beach, Giancarlo and Sylvie are engaged in a passionate embrace when Laurent suddenly appears. The two men engage in a physical altercation over Sylvie, deeply upsetting her. She takes off in the speedboat, leaving the venue behind.
That night, Gianna confides in Emily that Marcello has a reputation as a womanizer in Italy. Worried by this news, Emily leaves the event. Marcello follows her and assures her that he will not hurt her. Emily finally breaks down, admitting that nothing is going according to her plan. She tells Marcello that she fears he might be fake, just like her grandmother's old bag, and that she is getting emotionally invested despite her doubts. Marcello understands her anxiety and invites her on a proper date the next day.
The following morning, Marcello shows up outside Emily’s building and takes her on a bike ride. He offers to buy her a genuine Fendi bag, but Emily refuses. When Marcello confesses his feelings for her, Emily kisses him, bringing the episode to a passionate conclusion.
