The episode begins where it left off, with I-na sprinting to the hospital after Ki-jun's attack. She finds him unattended in the emergency room, and the hospital staff informs her that the operating room is unavailable.

Jae-yeol arrives soon after, and I-na, in a state of hysteria, begs him to intervene. He finds a specialist for Ki-jun, and the surgery is a success. I-na stays by his side until he wakes up, but he becomes frustrated when she fails to visit him after he wakes up, taking it out on his sister's kids when they run around in his room. His sisters tease him about it.
He texts I-na asking for a sandwich and, when she refuses to stay by his side, he explains that it is part of her duty. She also admits that she was scared. Ki-jun asks I-na to help with the discharge procedures and take him home. He teases her as she carries the suitcases and bags while he sits comfortably in the car.
At his place, it begins to rain heavily, so they sit downstairs in the car, waiting for it to let up. During their conversation, I-na explains that she usually chooses to hide the truth but silently wishes someone would pull it out of her. In a flashback, she initiates the breakup with Jae-yeol and pushes him to agree to the arranged marriage.
Ki-jun asks why she couldn't be honest, and I-na admits that she doesn't know how to be happy. He offers comfort by telling her to close her eyes and listen. She lists things that she can hear until she mentions her heartbeat. He tells her that happiness is within her and can always be found when she looks deep within.
At the office, I-na maintains their conflicting relationship by giving him too much work. She then invites him to her house the following Friday, which he is super excited about. However, his excitement is short-lived when he learns that a file on Haemu Pharmaceuticals, which he had included in the handover documents, was deleted from the cloud by I-na.
He spends the whole night in the office searching through the backup files and discovers that Jae-yeol owns a suspicious foundation, the J Medical Foundation, which Haemu Pharmaceuticals sponsors. There were suspicious transfers of a lot of money to the foundation.
Ki-jun suspects that the real reason I-na transferred him was connected to the case and asks her directly when she shows up to work. At first, she insists it was because she was convinced he could handle PM cases well. He insists further, and she admits that it was because of the foundation. She explains that she looked into it and found out that Jae-yeol was not involved in any shady business behind the foundation, so she decided not to report it. She was afraid that the matter could have been exaggerated and used in succession politics against Jae-yeol.
Ki-jun is disappointed in I-na for choosing to bury the issue rather than addressing it in a way true to who she is. He reminds her that even if she tries to protect him, the issue might come to light someday.
After the confrontation, I-na decides to report the matter at the board meeting. However, the situation takes a dramatic turn when an agenda to appoint Sung-yeol as co-vice chairman passes.
The decision sends shockwaves through Jae-yeol, especially when everyone who was previously on his side chooses to side with Sung-yeol. I-na struggles with her decision, finding herself in a dilemma.
While the entire office is in turmoil, discussing the appointment in hushed tones, I-na ultimately chooses to stand by Jae-yeol and pushes for Ki-jun’s transfer to the US. Ki-jun is deeply shocked when he learns of her decision. He confronts her, but she can't explain her true feelings. The relationship between them turns cold.
Ki-jun believes that she has chosen Jae-yeol when he discovers a teddy bear in the trash. Meanwhile, Jae-yeol arranges for I-na to accompany him on a company trip to Jeju. A-jeong's jealousy grows, and she confronts Jae-yeol after the meeting. He insists that he is willing to give up everything to pursue his true feelings for I-na.
A flashback reveals that the day A-jeong suddenly showed up at Ki-jun's house, she had happened to see pictures of Jae-yeol and I-na together in Jeju. He had also kept the tickets from that trip. She knows that he is trying to rekindle memories.
I-na and Jae-yeol fly to Jeju for the business trip, and Ki-jun goes about his days at the office while packing up the house ready for the US transfer. His sister even visits him, and he insists that I-na has feelings for another man. She denies it since she saw her at the hospital and felt distress when he was unconscious—the signs of deep feelings for him. After work, he finds the teddy bear that he thought she had discarded, carefully kept inside I-na’s car. At that moment, he remembers their conversation about how she has a habit of hiding the truth when it matters most.
He is convinced that I-na feels the same way as he does and decides to drive to Jeju. He calls A-jeong, asking for her hotel address, who evidently resents Jae-yeol’s and Ki-jun’s interest in I-na.
In Jeju, Jae-yeol tries to rekindle past feelings, but I-na makes it clear that she is only standing by his side because she made a promise. She regrets that the promise has made her hurt someone she cares about. She draws a clear line, telling him she will never return to him.
I-na checks out of the hotel, and as she wanders around Jeju with her suitcase, she regrets that it might be too late for her to go to Ki-jun. She hears Ki-jun call out her name. At first, she thinks it's in her head, but she hears it again. As she blames herself, Ki-jun appears before her.
This time, she moves first with quick strides toward Ki-jun. Without restraint or hesitation, she pulls him in for a kiss. The episode ends with the revelation that A-jeong sent anonymous tips about I-na's illicit relationship.
