The story unfolds with Adriana Russo narrating her family's rich history in the realm of ice skating. They are, quite literally, the royal family of this sport. Her parents, renowned ice skaters who won world championships, established a rink to train future champions. However, Adriana's mother's untimely passing has left her and her father, Will, to carry on the legacy. Adriana now assists her dad in running the rink, where he is intensely focused on training their younger daughter, Elise.

Despite the fact that Adriana herself once skated with finesse and grace, she has since abandoned the sport. The hope now rests on Elise's shoulders to win big at the world championships and save the rink. However, Elise's behavior is quite the opposite of graceful—she's a diva who doesn't take kindly to criticism from Adriana. Their relationship is strained, and Adriana often feels like her sister's personal servant.
The scene shifts to an exhibition at the Russo rink, where Elise is performing. It's clear that Elise is headstrong and doesn't appreciate Adriana's input. After the exhibition, Elise and Will leave, leaving Adriana to ponder if she'll ever feel that magical connection with ice skating again.
The next morning, Elise tries to warn her dad about the rink's financial troubles, but he prioritizes Elise's training over paying clients. During training, he encourages Elise to ignore Adriana's criticism and focus solely on his instructions. Meanwhile, Adriana watches Maria and her partner, Charlie, practice. Their coach, Camille, checks in on her, inquiring about Freddie's return. Freddie was Adriana's former partner but had to be dropped due to his height limitations. Adriana lies that she's doing fine and insists it was a purely business decision.
Camille then brings up Brayden, another male skater looking for a female partner. She thinks Adriana should give him a chance, as it could be a guaranteed ticket to the world championships.
Outside the rink, a young girl approaches Elise for an autograph on a Taylor Swift picture. Later, Adriana reminds her dad that they can't afford the expenses for the upcoming party. Will insists they need to impress the athletes joining their training rink, convinced that Elise will win the world championships and save the day.
Camille interrupts to share the delightful news of Maria and Charlie's progress. She is thrilled that Freddie and his partner, Riley, are relocating to the Russo family's rink for training. However, Will desires more ice time for Elise and perceives the focus on ice dancers as a waste of time. Camille and Adriana remind him that Riley and Freddie are paying clients coming to train. Will asks them to figure it out and walks away. Camille seizes the opportunity to persuade Adriana to return to the ice and honor her mother's legacy. As Sara's best friend, Camille is dedicated to watching over the family to fulfill the promise she made to Sara.
On her way out of her dad's office, Adriana runs into Maria, who is curious about Adriana's romantic feelings for Freddie. Adriana lies, stating that she has no feelings for him. Downstairs, Will welcomes the new athletes, Katya, Riley, and Freddie. Freddie mentions that he is only there because Riley's parents insisted they train at the Russo rink. Meanwhile, Elise assists Maria in selecting an outfit, while Maria helps her record a video for her social media. Shortly afterward, they join the party downstairs. Will attempts to charm potential sponsors, much to Elise's offense. Camille also reminds Will to rein it in, reminding him of what is truly important. Will rudely warns her to stay in her lane.
Upstairs, Adriana and Freddie discuss what transpired with their partnership. She apologizes and confesses that she stopped skating because it was never the same without him. She explains how her mother's death hit her hard and how his slow growth spurt also led to the end of their professional partnership.
Brayden abruptly cuts into their conversation and asks Adriana if she's interested in partnering with him. She's taken aback by his ego, and Freddie is hurt that she's looking for another partner. He storms out, and she rejects Brayden's offer. Meanwhile, Adriana catches up with Riley, who confesses that she has feelings for Freddie. Later, Will delivers a heartwarming speech, which is abruptly interrupted by men from the car dealership who come to repossess their family's cars. It turns out that Will has been defaulting on the car payments. He lies to the girls that it's just a small misunderstanding, but no one believes him.
Elise takes a break from the party to get some fresh air. Brayden joins her and starts flirting, but they're interrupted by a drunk hockey player, Weston. He begs Elise not to dump him. Brayden sends him away, promising Elise will call him the next day.
After the party, Adriana confronts Will about their financial problems. Will calls her a child and asks her to butt out of it. Adriana doubles down and reminds him that things were different when their mom was around. She focused on the sports and not the sponsors. Of course, Will defends himself, saying he's doing his best to save Sara's legacy. The verbal fight with her dad makes her sad. She heads to Elise's room only to find her sister busy making out with Brayden.
The next morning, Katya and JJ gossip about the Russo family's financial situation. In the meantime, Adriana tries to show support to Riley and Freddie, who assure her that it's fine if she wants to partner up with Brayden. He's already committed to his professional partnership with Riley.
At the regionals, Riley and Freddie put on an impressive performance. Adriana tries to check in with Elise, but her sister acts like she's above it. Although she's terrified of failing, Elise acts self-assured in front of Adriana. She's also demeaning and rude towards her. On the other hand, Will tries to get Charles Haye to consider sponsoring the Russo rink. Charles agrees to sponsor the rink, but only if Elise wins. Unfortunately, Elise has an accident while performing and ends up taking a fall while doing a spin. They rush her to the hospital.
After watching her dad deliver the sad news to Elise that she can't proceed with her injury, Adriana goes to Brayden and proposes a partnership. Later, Will returns home and comforts Maria, who's worried about Elise. In the meantime, Adriana and Brayden take to the rink to see if they can work together. Will is surprised to see them skating, but Camille says that they just might be the future of the Russo rink.
