Episode 5 of "Fool Me Once" begins with Maya jolting awake from a nightmarish vision involving Joe. Her heart still pounding, she hears a knock at her door and finds Eva, tears streaming down her face, trembling outside. Eva confides in Maya that her ex-stalker has somehow hacked into her nanny camera, and she fears he's spying on her. She warns Maya that the same fate could await her.

This revelation serves as a wake-up call for Maya, who suddenly wonders if someone could manipulate or plant footage in her own camera. Could Joe's appearance have been staged? She calls upon Shane for assistance, and he swiftly begins searching for signs of a Wi-Fi hack. However, his investigation yields no suspicious findings.

Just then, Kierce interrupts their investigation with an update on the case. Maya is disappointed to learn that the police have arrested and subsequently released a suspect. Kierce presses Maya for more details about the assailants who attacked her and Joe, but she can only shake her head. It was too dark; she didn't see their faces. She notices Kierce's hands trembling, but he brushes it off as nothing.

To distract Maya from her troubles, Shane suggests they take Lily out for some fresh air. Suddenly, Maya's phone rings. It's Judith, her voice urgent, begging Maya to bring Lily to the estate.

Elsewhere, Marty finally crosses paths with Molly and realizes that Kierce has yet to confide in her about his blackouts. Marty confronts his friend, insisting that Kierce must tell Molly the truth before their wedding.

Meanwhile, Alexa joins a DNA-matching website in hopes of learning more about her half-brother. She receives a message, but decides to keep it from Dan and investigate further on her own. To her surprise, she discovers that her half-brother is Louis, the young man who works at their school. Louis confesses that he took the job to be close to them and Claire, unaware of the web of secrets that entangle them all.

He and Claire had embarked on a journey to discover each other, yet fate intervened, as she passed away before they could forge deeper bonds. It transpired that just days prior to her demise, Claire escorted him to an elite school and implored him to pretend a desire to become its student. Alexa reached out to Maya, who was then residing at Judith's abode, relaying the revelations. Her conversation with Louis concluded on a sour note, as she demanded time to process the startling revelations.

Following the phone call, Maya spied Caroline fleeing the scene, prompting her to pursue the elusive figure. She found herself wandering through an upstairs corridor, her gaze falling upon vintage family portraits. Her attention was drawn to the inscription of Joe's alma mater, sparking a desire to delve deeper into the mystery. Leaving Lily in the care of her grandmother, Maya embarked on a drive to the school.

Sneaking into the principal's office, she was soon discovered, but her candor and threat to withdraw Judith's financial support softened the administrator's stance. The veil of secrecy was finally lifted, revealing the tragic events of 1996. Claire had been investigating the suspicious death of a student named Theo Mora, a close friend of Joe's who perished from alcohol poisoning.

It transpired that a group of boys had gone overboard in their jubilation after a victorious game, leading to a chain of events that culminated in tragedy. The headmaster dismissed it as an unfortunate accident, boys being boys, and cautioned Maya against causing further distress to the bereaved family. However, he hinted that Andrew's demise might have been exacerbated by the profound grief of losing his closest companion. Maya pressed for more information, inquiring about the other individuals present on the yacht during Andrew's fatal incident. The headmaster revealed the name of another boy - Christopher Swain.

At Eddie's cozy abode, their father finally unveils the truth about his mysterious whereabouts on the fateful night Joe passed away. He had lied about his alibi, and under the relentless scrutiny of the detectives, he confesses to having almost embarked on an affair with a woman he barely knew. However, it seems there's no concrete evidence linking him to any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Kierce ventures to the hospital for a crucial test, accompanied by Nicole. She tries to instill courage in him and hold out hope for a favorable outcome. The doctors delicately explain to Kierce that he's suffering from a degenerative condition, but they're still in the dark about its specifics. Nevertheless, his condition is deteriorating rapidly, and he fears that his alcoholism might have hastened its progress. The doctors offer what comfort they can, but their answers are far from satisfying.

Later, Kierce heads to his appointment with Molly at the serene church, only to break the heartbreaking news that he cannot proceed with the marriage. Overwhelmed, he flees the scene and finds himself standing on a bridge, alone with his thoughts. He seems to be at the end of his rope, and in a moment of desperation, he calls Nicole to help him navigate this crisis. He's terrified of burdening Molly with his condition and blames himself for everything that's gone wrong. Kierce ignores Marty's numerous calls and messages, leaving him to continue his investigation alone. Marty's suspicions now turn to the coach's son.

As Maya continues her probe into Theo's affairs, she receives a frantic call from Eddie, informing her that Alexa is missing. Maya briefs him on Alexa's recent antics, and Eddie's anger flares up as he accuses her of keeping him in the dark. He rushes to Alexander's place to inquire if he's seen Alexa again. He explains the reason behind his explosive confrontation with Alexander and urges him to try and reconnect with his son. As their conversation unfolds, Alexa finally calls back, assuring them that she's safe and sound.

Maya visits Theo's cozy abode and engages in a profound conversation with his loving mother. Deep in her heart, the mother holds a nagging suspicion that something horrendous has transpired with her precious son, and she believes that the affluent elite at the school have concealed the grisly truth. She and her husband, who hail from humble beginnings, feel powerless to intervene, as Theo is a scholarship student, dependent on the kindness of others. She confides in Maya, speculating that Andrew might have taken his own life, overwhelmed by a sense of guilt.

After her heartfelt exchange with Theo's mother, Maya receives a cryptic message from Corey, urging them to converge at the bustling arcade club. Corey has uncovered a promising clue in Tommy's recent activities, despite the fact that he has mysteriously vanished. It seems that Tommy had been renting a storage space, and they are determined to unravel the mystery behind his disappearance and what secrets he might have been hiding.

As they drive towards the storage unit, Corey reveals a startling revelation. Claire had uncovered a shocking truth - Burkett's pharmaceutical company had manufactured antibiotics that caused addiction and countless deaths worldwide. However, the Burketts refuse to recall the harmful drug and are hell-bent on concealing the truth and shifting the blame. Corey suspects that Claire might have uncovered more about this sinister scheme and was silenced as a result.

As they arrive at the storage unit, a chilling discovery awaits them. They find Tommy's lifeless body, concealed in a freezer, a tragic testament to the dangers lurking in the shadows.
