The exhilarating premiere of "FUBAR" unfolds in Antwerp, where Luke Brunner ignites a dumpster in a blaze of glory before setting off, his communication devices buzzing with Barry's instructions. With Barry's guidance, Luke manages to infiltrate the fire brigade and makes his way into the opulent diamond district. However, this entire charade is merely a smokescreen; Luke's true mission lies beneath the city's surface, where he intends to break into the vault from underneath. His objective: to liberate a cache of diamonds, which he swiftly accomplishes, slipping away undetected.

FUBAR – Season 1 Episode 1 1

This elaborate diamond heist is, in reality, a clever decoy aimed at drawing out a prominent diamond dealer and uncovering the identity of his mysterious superior. Meanwhile, Barry orchestrates a strike from afar, revealing that Luke Brunner is, in fact, a seasoned CIA agent. He exits the scene unscathed, marking the successful completion of his final mission and the dawn of his retirement from the agency. With visions of returning to the US as a celebrated hero, Luke is eager to embark on his new life as a retired spy.

The narrative then shifts to bustling New York, where Luke returns home, bearing gifts for his loved ones. For Emma, he has a thoughtful present – a Kitchen-Aid mixer. For his doting granddaughter, Romi, he has a more unexpected treasure: one of the stolen diamonds once owned by a Congolese warlord, which he has cleverly retained. Barry, however, is less than pleased, reminding Luke that this diamond serves as incriminating evidence.

Amidst this tension, a recurring joke about an ice cream cake adds a lighthearted touch to the otherwise awkward family dynamics. Luke, a divorced loner, finds solace in the idea of rekindling his relationship with Tally, believing that a ticket aboard a grand cruise ship could be the key to winning her back.

Yet, before Luke can set sail, Barry drops a bombshell. They are on the brink of losing a valued operative codenamed Panda. She has been embedded in Guyana, seemingly entangled with Omar Polonia's son, who has followed in his father's footsteps, commanding a formidable network of over 400 individuals involved in illegal arms trafficking. To make matters worse, this rogue heir also possesses a suitcase nuke, posing a grave threat to global security.

Boro, a name that strikes fear into hearts, plans to host an auction where the most notorious criminals convene, their greedy eyes set on acquiring a formidable weapon. Little does Boro know that Troy, his loyal deputy, has uncovered Panda's true identity as an undercover agent. With their lines of communication severed, they face a dire countdown—36 hours until Troy returns to Guyana and blows Panda's cover wide open. In this hour of need, they require someone whom Boro implicitly trusts: Finn Hoss, a moniker that cloaks Luke's true identity.

Luke, burdened with orders from headquarters, finds himself torn between the mission and his desire to mend fences with Tally. However, Tally's burgeoning romance with Donnie, a colleague from work, leaves Luke feeling anything but pleased.

In Guyana, Luke crosses paths with Cain, Boro's trusted first lieutenant. Though initially skeptical, Luke eventually gains entry into Boro's encampment after a thorough pat-down. As Cain leads him through the camp, Luke is astounded to witness Danielle DeRosa, none other than his daughter Emma, engaged in a fierce ring battle for money. Emma, alias Panda, is a CIA operative possessing unparalleled abilities. Her exceptional recall, problem-solving prowess, and IQ place her far beyond the norm, traits she was destined to wield. After college, she embraced this calling, unaware that the CIA had erected a "Chinese Wall" to keep her and her father worlds apart.

Luke's disappointment in his daughter's deception lingers as she walks away, but their troubles are far from over. With Troy's return looming at 4 am, they must resolve this predicament swiftly, lest it be too late.

At the raucous party, Boro egged Luke on to "approach Dani," subtly hinting at his past encounters with her. Luke responded with an uneasy grin, just as a note was surreptitiously passed to him by William, who was privy to Luke's undercover status. William, eyes wide with fear, pleaded for Luke's assistance in extracting his family from their perilous situation. Emma, suspicious of a setup, advocated for self-preservation, but Luke remained unsure. In the hierarchy dictated by Emma's longer tenure, she retained command for the time being.

Later, at the airstrip, an intense disagreement between Emma and Luke blinded them to the悲剧 that unfolded beneath their wheels. The next morning dawned, and Emma confidently declared herself the finest marksman in the compound. However, an unexpected distraction arose when her lipstick vibrated ominously across her desk, eliciting a fury from Emma. She accused Luke of causing her marital downfall, insisting that her circumstances differed vastly from his—she excelled at everything and lacked familial ties. Luke attempted to mend fences, but their conversation crumbled when the bodies Emma had consigned to the rice paddies reappeared, washed upstream by an irony of fate. The distinctive vertical slits across their throats, Luke's trademark, exposed their covert operation.

In a desperate bid for escape, Luke and Emma seized the nuclear suitcase, feigning an expedited countdown, while Will and his family scrambled aboard their conveyance. They converged on the airstrip, only to find themselves encircled by Boro and his henchmen at the eleventh hour. Notably absent was Barry, leaving their situation even more precarious.
